Jason Aldean is giving fans another preview of his upcoming album with the release of three new songs, including his long-awaited duet with his wife, Brittany Aldean.

The much-anticipated collab, “Easier Gone,” was penned by Charles Kelley, Josh Kerr, Dave Haywood, and Jimmy Robbins. The track finds the husband-and-wife pair singing through the emotional aftermath of a breakup, capturing the struggle of moving on after a chance run-in reopens old wounds. Just when they think they’ve finally moved on, seeing each other again forces them to admit that things were simpler when the other person was out of the picture completely.

Jason takes the lead on the opening verse, with Brittany’s vocals subtly echoing in the background. When the chorus hits, the Georgia native’s vocals are lifted by Brittany’s harmonies, bringing the emotional weight of the song into full focus.

“You were easier gone/ You were easier outta this town/ Hey, I almost had this lettin’ you go thing figured out/ Yeah, it was easy to lie/ To myself on a Friday night/ When I wasn’t face to face with how good you look moving on/ Yeah, you were easier gone,” they sing.

Brittany then steps into the spotlight on the second verse, marking the first time fans get to hear her vocals featured in a recorded release.

While the couple has previously sung together on social media, “Easier Gone” marks their first-ever official duet. In a recent interview with Nashville Lifestyles, Aldean shared that the collaboration has been a long time coming.

“Britt and I have been wanting to do something together for a while, but it’s like with anything, I just think it has to be the right song,” Aldean says. “It has to be the right timing.”

He went on to admit that Brittany was initially nervous stepping into the recording booth, but quickly found her footing.

“It was weird because she’s never been to the studio or tried to cut a record or anything like that. The first day was her learning how it all goes. Then she went back in, knew what to expect, and just killed it,” he shared.

“I’m not going to put her in a position where it’s not good,” he added. “I told her, ‘If I tell you it’s good, you can trust me.’ And it turned out amazing. I’m excited for people to hear it.”

In addition to “Easier Gone,” Aldean also released “Her Favorite Color” and “What’s A Little Heartache.” All three tracks will appear on his forthcoming 20-track album, Easier Gone, which is set to arrive on April 24.

“This album is about real life,” Aldean explained. “The highs, the lows, and everything in between. Every song started from a real place, and when it all came together, I realized these really are songs about all of us.”

Songs About Us will also include collaborations with David Lee Murphy and Luke Bryan.

Jason Aldean will celebrate the album release by returning to his home state of Georgia to  co-headline UGA’s Sanford Stadium with Luke Bryan.
