Vincent Mason is cementing his title as the “heartbreak kid” of country music with his new single, “Painkiller.”

Co-written by Mason with hit makers Jessie Jo Dillon, Luke Laird, and Chase McDaniel, “Painkiller” captures the high and low of a love that feels like both a cure and a curse. While channeling the influence of one of Mason’s biggest musical influences, John Mayer, his unmistakable Southern drawl illustrates that rush of adrenaline that comes with a budding crush.

“I met her outside Oklahoma/ I was rollin’ like a tumbleweed/ Don’t know why I feel like I know ya/ That’s the first thing that she said to me/ I was in that low down broke down/ Lonely and wishin’/ Somethin’ like her would come fix it,” he recounts in the opening verse.

Inside The Fleeting Love Story

However, the red dirt love story appears to be wrapped in heartache as Mason indicates that the woman who’s come into his life with her healing powers is the same person who’s going to cause him heartbreak once he leaves. His character falls hard for the girl who came along to fix him while recounting their fairytale style dates of watching the sun rise from the bed of a pickup truck and trying hard to ignore the inevitable fate of having to leave her behind.

Vincent Mason’s charming tone comes alive amid the electrifying guitar riffs as he sings, “She’s one hell of a pain killer/ That kinda get you right that’s so hard to find/ I ain’t been the same since her/ She’s red dirt raised with them blue jean eyes/ Yeah she’s heavy on the heart, she’s easy on my mind/ To tell you the truth I’m still high/ She’s one hell of a painkiller/ And it’s killin’ me to leave her behind.”

The soulful, guitar-driven anthem showcases the rising star’s signature blend of raw emotion and irresistible hooks while once again proving he can walk the line between tenderness and a gritty edge. The tune also gives fans another glimpse into his highly anticipated debut album, due later this year.

“‘Painkiller’ is one of the last songs I wrote for my album. I got to get in the room with two of my favorite writers, Jessie Jo Dillon and Chase McDaniel, and one of my songwriting heroes, Luke Laird. It’s one of my favorites I’ve put out so far and I’m excited about the sound we found on this one and the rest of the record.”

“Painkiller” comes hot on the heels of the rising Interscope/MCA Nashville/Music Soup songwriter and artist’s early releases this year – “Wish You Well” and “Waitin’ On You To Wear Off.”

As he continues to build out his first full-length project, Mason’s breakout single “Hell is a Dance Floor,” which racked up over 160 million streams, was just RIAA-certified Gold.

Mason’s 2025 Tour Schedule

Vincent Mason’s already had a busy start to 2025. He spent the majority of the year so far on the road for his first headlining run, the Hell Is A Dance Floor Tour, which sold out in presale and even added a second leg due to overwhelming demand.

He’s not slowing down anytime soon either, with support slots lined up for Riley Green, Luke Bryan, Jordan Davis, and Parker McCollum on select dates, plus festival stops all across the country.
