Walker Hayes teamed up with Flo Rida to release a brand new collaboration called “High Heels.”
Out now, the song is a juxtaposition of sorts as it features a carefree, upbeat production alongside hard-hitting lyrics that detail the struggles artists often face.
“High Heels” opens with the line, “I take my whiskey neat to hide my mixed emotions, and they don’t have a clue.
The chorus goes, “My life is like parties over sleep / Monkey in the middle of my money and my dreams / My life is like high heels on the beach, perfect on the surface but I’m sinking underneath / You know my life is like / You Know, life is priceless / There’s pressure but, I guess pressure make diamonds.”
Hayes co-wrote “High Heels” with Daniel Majic, Meron Mengist, Fraser Churchill, Sean Davidson, Dre Davidson, and Breyan Isaac. The track, which marks Hayes and Flo Rida’s first collab, was produced by The Monarch and Majic.
While Flo Rida takes the lead, Hayes chimes in later with his own verse that offers a very real take on his own life.
“I almost got that GRAMMY, but I guess they don’t do fancy like me,” he sings, “but it’s ok, I got low miles on my Prius, rollin’ down the road with Jesus, and my food at Applebee’s is for free.”
Hayes has added the song to the set list on his current headlining Glad You’re Here Tour. The arena trek kicked off on Sept. 29 and runs through Nov. 12 with direct support from Parmalee. (Tickets are available HERE).
The Alabama native has his wife and six children in tow for the tour and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Earlier this year, Hayes discussed his family touring operation in an interview with People where he shared, “I love it, I just love it. I mean, truly, if this is how it goes, I can do this all the rest of my life. I can do this till my legs don’t work. Send us everywhere, I don’t care.”
Those who follow Hayes know that his wife, Laney, and their children are always along for the ride, no matter what.
“We’re a unit,” Hayes told the publication. “We lean on each other. We’re gonna be together as much as we can. Laney’s my best friend. I mean, I want to tell her about everything. Honestly…I don’t even want to tell her about everything. I just want to do it all with her. And then that way I don’t even have to tell her. She can see it for herself, and then we can just sit and smile about it.”
The release of “High Heels” with Flo Rida follows Hayes’ latest song, “That Dog’ll Hunt.” He released his album, Country Stuff, earlier this year.
Walker Hayes will soon be honored at the 2022 CMT Artists of the Year celebration alongside Carly Pearce, Cody Johnson, Kane Brown and Luke Combs. Premiering on CMT on Friday, Oct. 14, the 90-minute show will also honor Alan Jackson as the “Artist of a Lifetime” and Lainey Wilson as “Breakout Artist of the Year.”
