Martina McBride has been tapped to serve as a judge on a brand-new talent competition series for the Magnolia Network titled Second Chance Stage.
Produced by Sony Pictures Television’s The Intellectual Property Corporation, the eight-episode talent competition series was filmed in Kansas City. The goal of the new show is to give a string of contestants who have their dreams aside for years, or even decades, their second chance at a big break.
The performers will showcase a range of talents from dancing to singing to stand-up comedy and more. At the end of the series, one winner will take home a $100,000 cash prize in front of an audience full of talent scouts, agents and producers who are in search of the next big thing.
Joining McBride on the judging panel will be acclaimed stage and screen actor Taye Diggs and Saturday Night Live cast member, comedian and actress Heidi Gardner. Hosting the show will be sports broadcaster and New York Times bestselling author, Emmanuel Acho.
McBride took to social media to share the exciting news with her fans.
She wrote, “I’m so excited to announce that I’ll be joining Taye Diggs and @heidilgardneras a judge with @emmanuelacho as our host on #SecondChanceStage, airing this fall on @magnolianetwork + @streamonmax! 🌟”
Although a premiere date has not been revealed yet, the show is expected to launch this fall on the Magnolia Network, a joint venture between Chip and Joanna Gaines and Warner Bros. Discovery, and will also be available to stream on Max.
Second Chance Stage comes as part of the Magnolia Network’s all-new family-friendly unscripted content slate created for Max. Other shows set to air as part of this launch includes Roller Jam and Human vs. Hamster.
“We’re thrilled to launch this fun, ambitious and expansive unscripted slate on Max this fall,” said Allison Page, President of Magnolia Network. “By leveraging our storytelling and production expertise for these imaginative formats, we aim to surprise and delight viewers of all ages and create opportunities for families and friends to enjoy together.”
In addition to taking on this new role as a judge and mentor to the hopeful contestants, Martina McBride also has a slew of upcoming performances on the books. Throughout the summer, the “Independence Day” singer will take the stage at several fairs and festivals.
