Last night, Megan Moroney lit up the CMA Country Christmas stage with one of the night’s most charming performances as she delivered her clever holiday original, “All I Want for Christmas is a Cowboy.”
The songstress brought the heart, humor and glam to the annual television special, stepping out in a festive velvet red mini dress topped with a fur collar, elegant gloves, and glittering heels. Backed by a crew of western-styled dancers who brought the playful track to life, Moroney let her warm and effortless vocals bring the energy up with the song’s flirty charm.

Ahead of her performance, she talked about the magic of being part of CMA Country Christmas, explaining that it doesn’t get much better than getting to combine her love for Christmas with the country community.
“I’m so excited to be here for CMA Christmas. Christmas is my favorite holiday and CMAs are my favorite awards. So when you combine the two, I’m just happy to be here,” she said.
The festive event, which was shot live at Belmont University’s Fisher Center for the Performing Arts, has turned into one of country music’s most beloved holiday traditions, known for its jolly atmosphere, magical staging, and a lineup packed with superstar performances. This year was no exception as the set glowed with twinkling lights and decked out Christmas trees, creating the perfect backdrop for Megan Moroney’s heartfelt track that arrived last holiday season on an EP titled, Blue Christmas …duh.
This project features two original songs and the holiday classic, “Blue Christmas,” made famous by the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll” – Elvis Presley.

“All I Want For Christmas is a Cowboy” was written by Moroney with frequent collaborators Ben Williams, Mackenzie Carpenter, and Micah Carpenter. The track quickly became a highlight of the project as it finds the Georgia native painting a picture of her ideal Christmas wish list. Instead of asking for material items, she has one simple request for Santa to send the perfect cowboy her way.
“Give me tall hot in a stetson/ Something I can unwrap like a present/ Put him in some new Luccheses/ Make him call me baby/ I swear I’ve been good all year/ Please Santa please/ All I want for Christmas is a cowboy/ Who only wants me,” she sings on the chorus.

This year’s CMA Country Christmas was co-hosted by Lauren Daigle and Jordan Davis, who are led the show together for the very first time. In addition to their hosting duties, the pair also took the stage as performers, joining the lineup including Riley Green, Lady A, Little Big Town, Parker McCollum, Megan Moroney, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, and BeBe Winans.
These festive performances aired on Tuesday, December 2 at 9/8c on ABC. Those who want to go back and relive the magic can find them now streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
