Morgan Wallen is giving fans a taste of his forthcoming new album with the release of “Love Somebody.”

This just-released track is a bit different than anything the East Tennessee native has released in the past, as it’s infused with Latin-inspired sounds. Wallen says this was completely intentional and he hopes his fans will enjoy it.

“’Love Somebody’ is a little bit of a new approach lyrically and sonically,” he shared in a statement. “I wanted to try something different, with what I wanted to talk about, how I wanted it to sound, and we were inspired by Latin-leaning influences. I’m really excited about this song and pumped that it is out.”

Wallen co-wrote “Love Somebody” with John Byron, Ashley Gorley, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, Elof Loelv and Ryan Vojtesak. The new track was produced by Joey Moi and Charlie Handsome (Dangerous: The Double Album and One Thing At A Time).

At first listen, the song feels cheerful due to its lively production, but when you pay closer attention to the lyrics, you realize that it’s actually quite a sad song. The lyrics tell the story of someone seeking a meaningful relationship after several unsuccessful attempts that left him with shallow, meaningless connections. As the story unfolds, he also shares his frustration with finding someone who isn’t “hypnotized by dollar signs and blinding lights.” It’s likely that the lyrics draw from personal experiences, however, Wallen has yet to confirm or deny that.

“I just wanna love somebody/ Who won’t leave a hole in my heart/ I just wanna love somebody/ That don’t want me fallin’ apart/ And I’ll be lucky if I ever find/ A somethin’ more than just a crazy night/ I just wanna love somebody,” Wallen sings on the chorus.

The 31-year-old first previewed the song on TikTok and later performed it during his European tour over the summer. With its release, Wallen proves once again that he has a knack for writing and recording relatable songs that beg for radio airplay. This song continues to blur genre lines and will likely be another crossover hit.

“Love Somebody” comes right after Wallen’s latest album, One Thing At A Time, received 7x Platinum certification from the RIAA. It also follows the success of “I Had Some Help,” his hit collaboration with Post Malone.

His latest single, “Lies, Lies, Lies,” is at country radio now.

Wallen will wrap up his One Night At A Time Tour this weekend with back-to-back shows at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium on October 18-19. The tour included 87 performances in 10 countries, featuring 51 stadium shows, along with festivals and arenas over the course of two years. It was recognized as the 2023 Country Tour of the Year by both Billboard and Pollstar.

The superstar is the most-nominated artist for the upcoming 58th Annual CMA Awards. He earned seven nominations, including a nod for the night’s top honor of Entertainer of the Year. Winners for the CMA Awards will be revealed on Wednesday, November 20 when the show, co-hosted by Lainey Wilson, Luke Bryan, and Peyton Manning, airs on ABC.
