Nate Smith and HARDY have finally teamed up for a collaboration that we never knew we needed—but now can’t imagine living without. Their new singly, “Nobody Likes Your Girlfriend,” combines their rebellious spirit and signature country/rock edge to create one electrifying anthem that urges for a friend to ditch their untrustworthy other half.
Songwriters Jessie Jo Dillon, Michael Hardy, Ben Johnson and Hunter Phelps are behind the clever narrative that chronicles the efforts of two friends working together to help their friend out of a bad situation. They take things into their own hands by sitting their buddy down for an intervention, where they proceed to lay out all the reasons why his girlfriend has got to go.
“I ain’t sayin’ that she ain’t drop dead/ But boy, she knows it when she turns them heads/ Got a good girl dress that you love when she slips on/ But your floor ain’t the only one it’s been on/ Brother, I ain’t tryna start no fight/ Ain’t what you wanna hear on a Friday night/ I know she’s got you in a love drunk whirlwind/ But man to man, nobody likes your girlfriend,” they sing on the chorus.
Their vocals blaze through the up-tempo track filled with epic guitar licks and plenty of tough love. While reflecting on the opportunity to work with HARDY, the ACM New Male Artist of the Year gushed over the fact that he’s been a fan of the “Quit!!” singer for “a long time.”
“I still remember the first time I heard ‘Rednecker’—his authenticity was undeniable. Not only is he one of the most sought-after songwriters in country music, but he’s also a massive star in his own right,” said Smith. “Having him join me on this song is truly humbling. From the start, we both knew this song had to be done this way—it speaks to so many people in a way that feels real. And on top of that, it’s easily one of the catchiest songs I’ve ever been a part of. I can’t wait to hear crowds singing it at the top of their lungs everywhere I go this year.”
In order to bring the song to life in a cinematic way, the country artists tapped director Spidey Smith to help capture video starring actor and comedian Kevin James and digital creators Sophia La Corte and Amanda Mertz.

The video opens with a comedic “public service announcement” that reads, “If you or someone you know has been subject to a girlfriend nobody likes, there are resources available via our website www.breakupwithher.net.” This link then drives listeners to a page with the video and streaming link as well as a form that encourages listeners to submit their similar experiences with the chance to receive some life advice from HARDY and Nate Smith.
Kevin James acts as the unlucky friend who is in desperate need of a wake up call, which the country superstars happily respond to by putting on all-black ensembles and ski masks and breaking into his apartment. From there, they lay out all the red flags in their relationship, including the fact that they don’t share the same interests, she always tries to put him down, and no one in his family likes her.
At the very end, the trio of friends throw a rowdy house party in celebration of the character leaving his former girlfriend for good. According to Smith, they all had a ton of fun filming this video, as it brought out their hilarious personalities and allowed them to just let loose.
“Now, I might be speaking for HARDY here, but deep down, I think we’re just a couple of random geeks with the same sense of humor. You wouldn’t believe how much we laughed on set. Then, to top it all off, we brought in one of the greatest comedians of all time—Kevin James! I’ve gotten to know Kevin recently, and on a whim, I sent him a video (half-jokingly) asking if he’d take the lead role in the video. I never imagined he’d actually say yes! Not only is he a legend in his craft, but he’s an even better human being.”
He continued, “The biggest takeaway from this whole experience? The generosity of people like HARDY, Kevin James, and so many others who have allowed me to live my wildest dreams. Dream big, y’all!”

Nate Smith is gearing up for even more new music and in the meantime, he is taking his Through The Smoke World Tour to Canada, Europe and the United Kingdom as well as stops at C2C Festival. This summer, he will also hit the road with Jason Aldean on his upcoming Full Throttle Tour.
