With their ninth studio album, CAVES out now, NEEDTOBREATHE has some big things on the horizon.

After their latest hit project is out for everyone to hear, Bear Rinehart, Seth Bolt, Josh Lovelace, Randall Harris and Tyler Burkum are not stopping there. In addition to listening to CAVES on streaming platforms fans will be able to hear their favorite NEEDTOBREATHE hits live during the highly-anticipated CAVES tour this fall, kicking off next month in Savannah, Georgia.

The band announced the tour via an Instagram post back in June: “Who’s ready for The CAVES World Tour! @needtobreathe and @judahandthelion are hitting the road this fall for an absolutely epic night. On this first leg of tour, we will be visiting some of the biggest venues we’ve ever played, and we’ll be delivering all your favorites old and new every night. For the first time since 2019, we’re also bringing back the full VIP meet and greet experience! You’ll have the chance to hang backstage with both bands, plus a lot more… Can’t wait to see y’all out there!”

To coincide with this lengthy Instagram caption, the five-piece group shared an image that detailed the long-awaited tour, revealing that they will begin in Savannah, Georgia on October 13 and conclude in Atlanta, Georgia on November 18, hitting 23 cities across the United States in between.

After hitting the road with A-list celebrities in the past, from Taylor Swift to OneRepublic to Tim McGraw and beyond, the CAVES tour is guaranteed to be bigger and better than anything the GRAMMY Award-nominated band has done before, and Country Now got all of the inside scoop in an exclusive interview.

NEEDTOBREATHE will not be spending the duration of the tour alone, as the group will be bringing Judah & The Lion along with them as a supporting act.

“I mean, we’re taking Judah & The Lion out with us, who are good friends of ours, and so we’re excited about that, because it makes the backstage as good as the stage, you know, and that always helps,” the band’s frontman, Bear Rinehart, dished, prior to sharing the magnitude of the CAVES tour as a whole.

The talented singer-songwriter shared, “We’ve been working on the tour for months now already, rehearsing and getting the set list together and all that, so it’ll be the most ambitious, big tour we’ve ever done, but in the same way, the goal is the same. We’re putting 10,000 people in a room that don’t believe the same way, they’re different ages, they like different styles of music, you know, trying to make that night special. You know, how do we become a community for that night, you know, under one roof?”

“I think people will come to our show and be inspired, you know, even if it’s just for the effort that we give, you know what I mean? It really is like we still play every show like we’re playing to our 16-year-old selves singing in a rock and roll band for the first time,” he continued with a beaming smile.

To piggy-back off of his bandmate’s statement, Tyler Burkum shared how preparing for the CAVES tour is bringing back NEEDTOBREATHE’s childlike sense of wonder: “Thinking that we’ve all been in garages, blowing our ears out, and churches, practicing and things like that growing up, and you picture being able to do this when you’re doing that, and so I think it’s very fun… Maybe better execution, but the closer we can get to that junior high excitement to just play music, that’s where it’s at.”

Of course, being on the road comes with a great deal of memories beyond just performing…

In the same interview, Bear shared NEEDTOBREATHE’s pre-show ritual, revealing that his bandmate, Josh Lovelace, serves as the ultimate DJ moments before they hit the stage.

“We literally crank music up, and just kind of vibe out to all kinds of different music, like to get our blood flowing a little bit… It’d be like a football team just like walking off the bus and going to play right that minute. You know, we need a little bit of that warm up to get us ready for that first note, so yeah, it’s pretty much just having fun,” he shared with a grin, prior to Josh revealing what he typically plays before a show.

“Funny enough, so there’s a couple of different ones, but we always listen to Nathaniel Rateliff’s ‘S.O.B.’ before we go out, and everybody dances… anything that makes everybody feel like they’re way cooler than they are,” Josh gushed, and NEEDTOBREATHE shared a laugh together.
