Just weeks before her due date, Maren Morris jetted off to Houston, Texas for a performance at the famed Houston Rodeo where she flaunted her nine-month baby bump in a sequin bodysuit.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Morris was taken to the stage in a car that stayed nearby throughout her entire performance, just in case her son decided to make his debut early.
“If I go into labor during this show, it’s all good because it just means that my kid really wanted to be born in Texas,” she told the crowd, according to the publication.
“He’s kicking. He knows that my adrenaline is on full blast.”
Performing for 64,661 paid attendees, Morris powered through her set, which reportedly included performances of hits like “My Church,” “The Middle,” “I Could Use A Love Song” and “80s Mercedes.”
Before departing the venue for the airport where a private jet was waiting to take her back to Nashville, Morris reflected on the moment, telling fans, “For the rest of my life, I’m gonna look back at this show and show my son footage of it. And tell him it got him out the door.”
The superstar enjoyed a Texas favorite, Whataburger, on her ride home.
Morris previously opened up about playing a show while nine months pregnant and admitted she was a little apprehensive about it.
“It’s a couple weeks before my due date,” Morris said at the time. My set is at like 6 p.m., and it’s not too long of a flight, so I could be back in Nashville by 9:00, hopefully. It’s a pretty crazy concept.”
This is the first child for Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd. While the couple hasn’t specified their son’s due date, they previously shared that he is due sometime in March.
