October 6th marks what some would consider a country music holiday: the 25th wedding anniversary of beloved country music couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. To celebrate the milestone moment, McGraw took to Instagram to share with fans the special memory of when and where he proposed to Hill.
“How I proposed to Faith…We had dated for a while. I actually asked her to marry me quite a few times but she kept saying no. She said, ‘I’m not gonna get involved with another country singer. It’s just not gonna work out.’” McGraw explained in a video shared to Instagram.
“We were somewhere playing this big outdoor festival and when they had these trailer houses set up, I’m getting ready to go on stage and I had this sort of case that had this big mirror in it. She’s standing there and we’re talking and I said, ‘Look, let’s get married,’ and she says, ‘You’re asking me to marry you at a country music festival in a trailer house?’ and I said, ‘Well, it’s pretty apropos if you think about it.’ She goes, ‘Are you serious?’ I said, ‘Well, yeah, I’m serious,’ and then they called me and I had to go to stage,” McGraw went on to reveal.
The surprise moment came after his show when he returned to the trailer.
“I went to stage and did the show and then I came off the stage and went back into my dressing room and Faith wasn’t there but I looked at the mirror and in lipstick it said ‘Yes! I’m gonna be your wife,’ and we still have that mirror and it was the best day of my life, that’s for sure,” he happily shared.

The pair’s slow burning romance began after meeting for the first time at a gig in Nashville in 1994. Although their initial introduction wasn’t the start of their whirlwind romance, it set them on the path for sparks to fly two years later when Hill joined McGraw on his Spontaneous Combustion Tour.
McGraw and Hill have been going strong since then, building a beautiful family in the process with daughters Gracie (24), Maggie (22) and Audrey (19).
So what’s the secret to their long-lasting marriage?
In a 2018 interview with People, the couple revealed that regular date nights are key, but also having their own space as well.
“We both have our daily routines and we have our own dressing rooms,” Hill explained. “We each have our own space to retreat to so we do get time to ourselves.”
