Priscilla Block is embracing her inner pirate in honor of Gasparilla 2024 in Tampa, Florida. The breakout country star went all-in for the annual pirate-themed event, sporting a black ensemble with gold chains, large gold hoop earrings, and a red sequin headwrap.
Dressed In Her Best Pirate Garb
The 28-year-old shared photos of her festive outfit on social media with the clever caption, “Gasparilla, meet GasPriscilla.”
The backdrop of her photos showcased all the fun of Gasparilla, with boats lined as far as the eye can see among the sunny bay in Tampa.
What Is Gasparilla?
Gasparilla is an annual event that happens in Tampa and began in the Spring of 1904. The event is named after Jose Gaspar, who was also known as Jose Gasparilla, a famed Spanish Pirate who involved the coast of Florida hundreds of years ago. He was said to be intelligent and well-educated and earned a fortune in treasure during his pirating days.
During the annual Gasparilla celebration, bands of pirates invade the city and people line the streets for a festive parade down the city’s famed Bayshore Boulevard. There’s also a children’s Gasparilla parade for families.
Tonight, Priscilla will take the stage at Tampa Bay Rodeo’s Bull Bash & Country Music Festival in Dover, Florida. The chart-topping singer is set to headline tonight’s show, which follows the Friday night event headliners by country hitmaker John Michael Montgomery.
“See you tonight Dover, FL,” she added in her social media caption.
New Musical Era
Block, who released her debut album in early 2022, recently ushered in a new era of music with the release of “Hey, Jack.” Written by Block with Randy Montana, Dave Cohen and Jeremy Stover, the song introduces a more mature and sultry side of the rising star. She paired the release with a seductive new music video that perfectly illustrates this new era of music.
Most recently, Block has been teasing even more new music on social media, including the track “Good On You,” which is gaining momentum across TikTok and Instagram.
“I’ve evolved a lot,” she recently told Country Now of her music and what’s to come. “So people might hear some songs that they’re like, ‘Whoa, I wasn’t expecting her to show this side’ and I think it’s exciting for me to give people something that they haven’t seen or heard yet from me. We’ve been in this new artist category for a while, and I’m hoping that this next record makes some waves. That’s kind of what I’m hoping with it.”
Block closed out 2023 with a dream-come-true performance opening for Old Dominion at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
“I used to play outside of the Bridgestone Arena at the Jack Daniels bar every single weekend for tips so this has been a big goal of mine. I’m just excited, it’s a full circle moment,” the North Carolina native explained. “I remember playing those shows and being like, ‘One day, hopefully y’all will see me in there.’ And here we are.”
On Tour In 2024
In 2024, she’s set to bring her music across the U.S. and the world with dates scheduled in the Dominican Republic, the United Kingdom, Australia, and more.
