Rascal Flatts have teamed up with pop group, the Jonas Brothers, to release “I Dare You,” marking the country band’s first radio single since 2020.
Back in October of 2024, the trio made up of Gary LeVox, Joe Don Rooney, and Jay Demarcus, announced that they would reuniting for a 2025 tour following a multi-year hiatus. Since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting a new music drop to coincide with the upcoming run. While there was instant excitement surrounding the news of this collaboration with the fellow boy band, it’s safe to say it was not on our bingo cards for 2025.
Rascal Flatts Dropped Some Major Hints
The trio shared a major teaser to their social media with a video clip that found them saying they are “so excited” to announce that a new collaboration is on the way. They made sure to keep the secret by bleeping out the name of the artist and the song but encouraged fans to leave their guesses in the comment section.
Most of the guesses included fellow country acts like Morgan Wallen, Dan + Shay, Post Malone or Jelly Roll but some clever fans did guess correctly. One user even pointed out that it would be the perfect time for the two groups to come together as they are both in the midst of milestone years – with Rascal Flatts celebrating 25 years as a band and Jonas Brothers celebrating 20 years.
When the announcement officially went live, fans couldn’t contain their enthusiasm.
“THIS IS GONNA BE AMAZING!!!!!😍🤩” one user wrote while another said, “This is the best thing to ever happen to me.”
This collaboration brings a wave of nostalgia for the band’s longtime fans, who have followed their music from childhood into adulthood. “I Dare You” is the perfect fusion of the group’s signature country/pop sounds, thus delivering an irresistible earworm that listeners won’t be able to get out of their heads.
Kicking Off A New Era
“We’re so excited to kick off this next chapter of Rascal Flatts with this single, working with Kevin, Joe and Nick is such a blast, they’re class acts,” said Jay DeMarcus. “I think this song fits perfectly into our catalogue while also showing off something new and exciting, and we can’t wait to share it with our fans on the road!”
With an infectious melody and an upbeat energy driven by the electric guitar riffs and dynamic drumbeats, this song practically demands listeners to dance and sing along. Plus, the song acts as a fearless anthem that encourages listeners to push past their fears and take a risk on love.
“So I dare you/ I dare you to love somebody like me/ Yeah, I dare you/ I dare you to let me be your everything/ Oh, I dare you (I dare you)/ I dare you to run and, baby, don’t look back/ I know it scares you ’cause no one prepared you/ But, baby, I dare you/ Baby, I dare you,” they deliver on the chorus with a string of vibrant harmonies.
How Did This Collaboration Come About?
The idea to merge the two sets of trios came about following a writing session between the Jonas Brothers’ Nick Jonas, Dewain Whitmore Jr, Tommy English and Shay Mooney of Dan + Shay.
“They came to us and they were like ‘We feel like this is a chorus that sounds like Rascal Flatts,” Jay DeMarcus explained to Taste of Country, “and we’d love to be a part of it, if it’s something you guys are open to.’”
DeMarcus claims that the band decided it would be a “cool way” for them to reintroduce their sound to fans as well as to the radio.
“It seemed like a good opportunity and a good time and a good fit,” he added.

Plus, back in August, Joe Jonas told Entertainment Weekly that fans could expect their next album to be filled with various collaborations. He said, “We packed it with features. I was reaching out to a lot of different people because I felt like I wanted to have other narratives and other voices and a lot of duets.”
As LeVox revealed in a recent post to his personal Instagram page, this isn’t the first time Rascal Flatts and Jonas brothers have crossed paths. His post included a photo from the two bands in their early career, indicating that this duet was a long time coming.
The single was released just in time for Rascal Flatts as they are gearing up to hit the road for their nearly sold out 25th anniversary tour, the Life Is a Highway Tour. The country icons will kick off their 22-stop trek in Evansville, IN on February 13. Lauren Alaina and Chris Lane will serve as special guests.
