While blue eyes have traditionally dominated the lyrics of country love songs, Riley Green has finally made a track that gives brown-eyed girls their long-awaited chance to shine.

In a new Instagram post, Green shared a taste of another unreleased song titled “She Wrecked Me.” Fans were first excited by the promise of new music, but once they heard Green’s smooth vocals delivering lyrics meant for brown-eyed girls, their excitement shifted to the song’s sweet and specific message.

Green delicately strummed his guitar as his raw vocals delivered the gut-wrecking tune about just how difficult heartbreak can truly be. He finds himself reflecting on some major curveballs in life, including the car wreck that changed his path in football and maybe even his whole future. But what really hits him hardest isn’t the accident or the injury, it’s the impact from the girl with brown eyes who came into his life only to leave him “broken down and tangled up” and a need to turn to alcohol to numb the pain.

He sings, “It wasn’t that Chevrolet/ In a summer rain/ When I took that curb too fast/That busted knee/ On a quarterback sweep/ When I heard my future crack/ But those brown eyes/ Category five, blew right down Division Street/ And brother, she wrecked me.”

Fans instantly took over the comment section, buzzing over their love for the new song and especially his recognition of those with brown eyes.

“Thank you for singing about brown eyes!”

“It’s about time someone starts noticing the girls with brown eyes🤍

“Brown eyes….finally! 😆”

“Finally a song about brown eyes 😍”

“Brown eyed girlies unite 🫶🏻🙌🏻”

This is the second unreleased song that Green has previewed this summer that calls attention to this specific eye color, following the emotional tune, “My Way.” While there are a few songs out there that highlight this specific group of people, it’s the blue eyes that are known for receiving the most love in country music storytelling.

From Scotty McCreery’s “Damn Strait” to Hudson Westbrook’s “Damn Good Taste in Whiskey” and Luke Bryan’s “I Don’t Want This Night to End,” the blue-eyed girls always seem to steal the spotlight. This is especially true for Morgan Wallen who has become known for his preference towards the blue-eyed girls in songs like “Outlaw,” “Somebody’s Problem,” “Kiss Her In Front Of You” and “If You Were Mine,” to name a few.

With “She Wrecked Me,” Riley Green flips the script and judging by the response in his comment sections, it’s clear the brown-eyed girlies were more than ready for their moment.

Fans can find Riley Green on his Damn Country Music Tour through the fall. A complete list of upcoming dates can be found on his official website.
