Ryan Hurd and Maren Morris Show Gratitude After ‘Chasing After You’ Hits No.1

Ryan Hurd and Maren Morris are celebrating a new milestone together!

The beloved country couple reached the No.1 spot on this week’s U.S. Country Radio Mediabase chart with their massive hit, “Chasing After You.”

Penned by Brinley Addington and Jerry Flowers and produced by Teddy Reimer and Aaron Eshuis, the track appears on Hurd’s just-released debut album, Pelago.

The powerhouse duo performed the Platinum-certified track on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! this past week following the CMAs, where the single was nominated for two categories. The track is also nominated for Favorite Collaboration for the Country Now Awards. Fans can vote HERE.

“Number 1! Can’t even believe it. So proud of this song and grateful that I get to share it with @MarenMorris,” Hurd shared on Twitter upon heading the news. “Thank you to every station who played it, person who listened to and loved the song, and to our team who worked so incredibly hard all year to make it a hit!”

Morris also showed her gratitude, writing, “We’re officially number 1 this week @RyanHurd. Thank you to our team, the fans & country radio for falling in love with a song that so perfectly describes the heart wrenching journey love can often times be, even after the wine’s all gone…”

“Chasing After You” is the couple’s first official duet. 

“Maren and I met writing songs and we’ve sung on each other’s records and written together, but this is the first time we’ve gotten to do an actual duet together,” Hurd previously shared. “It feels like the timing is really perfect and it’s a full-circle moment to get to make music together in this way.” 

The song showcases Hurd and Morris’ relationship in a whole new light. 

“I know it’s a matter of time/Till you walk, till you walk back out of my life/Leave me standing here lonely feeling like a fool,” the couple sings on the chorus. “Every time, every time you say we’re done/You come back to the love you were running from/Don’t know why, don’t know why I let you but I do/Guess I love chasing after you.”

Hurd and Morris previously released a steamy music video to accompany the track.

Pelago was produced by Hurd with his longtime friend and creative partner Aaron Eshuis, along with contributions from Jesse Frasure and Teddy Reimer. Inspired by the singer’s childhood on the shores of Lake Michigan, the project has continued to take Hurd’s career to new heights.
