Sam Hunt confirmed the birth of his second child on Friday (Nov. 24) by sharing a family photo on social media.
In the sweet snapshot, the country star, whose private life typically remains just that, is all smiles standing beside his wife, Hannah Lee Fowler, their daughter, Lucy Louise, and their newborn child in tow.
Family Of Four
Alongside the heartwarming family photo, Hunt expressed his gratitude with a simple caption: “Thank You Lord.”
The “Outskirts” singer chose to keep details about their newborn baby’s name, gender, and birthdate under wraps.
Hunt announced Hannah’s pregnancy earlier this year while on stage at Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, according to Entertainment Tonight. At the time, he reportedly told the crowd that baby No.2 was on the way and that his wife and daughter were in town with him.
Kept The Gender A Surprise
For this pregnancy, the couple decided to keep the baby’s gender a surprise until his or her birth. Audacy’s Kelli & Guy Morning Show reports that it was the country star’s idea to keep the gender of their second child a surprise and that it took some convincing to get Hannah on board with the idea.
“We’re waiting to find out the gender of the baby on the day,” Hunt told the morning show in September. “I’m not really a planner, I fly by the seat of my pants, so it’s been easy on me. Hannah, it took a minute to talk her into it. Now that we’re 6 1/2 months in, 7 months in she’s on board… She’s made it through the hard part of not knowing. It was hard on her for a little while, but now we’re both really excited about finding out on the day of.”
Planned To Use A Family Name
During the same interview, the 38-year-old revealed that they planned to use a family name for their second child.
“I want to see the baby to know for sure, but we do have some names,” he said. “We put in a lot of work on our first little girl, Lucy Louise — we call her ‘Lu’ — so we have a little pool of family names that didn’t work [the first round] — so we have a pool of names maybe three, four, five and we’re all set whether we have a boy or girl — we’re ready.”
Prior to the arrival of baby No.2, Hunt says his wife was in full “nesting phase” preparing their home for another bundle of joy.
Earlier this year, the country star spoke with Country Now and other media outlets about the immense impact fatherhood has had on his life and admitted that “it’s changed drastically” since Lu joined their family.
“I’ve just been in heaven the past few months,” he sweetly shared.
