Sam Hunt is counting down the days until he becomes a father and doing his best to take in all of the fatherly advice ahead of the baby’s arrival.

The country superstar and Georgia native recently opened up about fatherhood in a new interview with Lon Helton on Country Countdown USA.

During the interview, Hunt unveiled the gender of his first child, which he and his estranged wife, Hannah Lee Fowler, are expecting in late Spring/early Summer.

“I haven’t talked about this, but I have a little girl on the way. I have a baby coming in about eight weeks,” Hunt shared. “I blocked out two months at the end of May and early June. Really this year revolves around that big news in my life.”

Hunt also revealed that he received some parenting advice from “Home Sweet” singer Russell Dickerson, who became a father himself in 2020.

“I saw Russell Dickerson a few weeks ago, we talked about fatherhood, I tried to pick his brain,” Hunt told Helton. ”Over the last 4-5 years, I’ve had a lot of buddies who’ve had their first kids. So I feel I’m ready for it.”

In terms of what Hunt and Fowler will be naming their first child, he says they do not yet have a name but have been “thinking about it.”

“I want her to be in the world before we name her,” Hunt added. ”I want to be able to look at her and decide what name suits her best.”

The news of Fowler’s pregnancy was first revealed on February 21, 2022, when she filed for a divorce from the “23” singer, claiming he was “guilty of inappropriate marital conduct” and that he is also “guilty of adultery.”

Fowler initially filed for divorce in Davidson County, Tennessee, and later withdrew her divorce filing and refiled in Williamson County. The divorce is pending.

In addition to discussing the arrival of his first child, the country singer/songwriter divulged a few details about his upcoming album.

“I was able to write some songs in 2020. I’ve got 3 or 4 songs recorded,” Hunt said. ”I imagine over the summer I’ll put some songs out, and hopefully have the album finished later this year.”

Sam Hunt has tour dates planned through November. More information can be found on his website.
