Scotty McCreery Says ‘Baby Is Coming Fast’

In a few short weeks, Scotty McCreery and his wife, Gabi, will welcome their first child, a baby boy, and the “Damn Strait” singer says he’s in disbelief that he will become a father in a matter of weeks.
“Baby is coming fast, I tell you,” the North Carolina native recently told ABC Audio. “It seems like just yesterday that Gabi showed me the pregnancy test, and she was like, ‘We’re having a kid.’”
While Gabi is due in early November, a recent ultrasound indicated that their baby boy was growing ahead of schedule and that he may be arriving around Halloween. With the clock ticking, Scotty and Gabi are busy getting their home baby-ready.
“We’ve got to build a nursery and get all this stuff ready,” he shared.
When it comes to fatherhood, Scotty said he is more than ready to wear his dad hat.
“It’s going to be the biggest blessing,” he gushed. “I can’t wait to teach this kid things. Get him on the ball field, play him some music, teach him guitar. We’ve already got a little music stand for him to play with. So yeah, we’re pumped.”
On top of getting in some father/son time, Scotty is also looking forward to seeing his wife take on motherhood. Scotty and Gabi have known each other since kindergarten and he thinks she’s going to to be “the best mom.”
“I’m so excited to be a dad, but probably more so excited to see Gabi be a mom, because she is going to absolutely crush it,” he went on to say. “Just how caring and thoughtful she is — she puts everybody’s needs in front of her own.”
After taking “Damn Strait” to the top of the charts, McCreery sent his new single, “It Matters To Her,” to country radio. The song was co-written by the American Idol winner alongside Rhett Akins and Lee Thomas Miller and includes some of the lessons McCreery has learned after being married for nearly four years.
“I’m a lyric guy,” McCreery recently shared. “I’m a story guy, a message guy. And this story was just us sitting back, talking one day, me and Rhett [Akins] and LeeThomas Miller and just being like, ‘Man, you know what I’m learning? It’s just the littlest things. Like if I go downstairs and just empty the dishwasher, and she doesn’t have to tell me to stop watching golf and go do it, it’s a little thing, but it adds up over time. And I’m learning as a young husband, that’s what adds up and makes the difference.’ And I can still work on it. Like, I still shave and leave my beard hair in the sink. and she yells from downstairs like, ‘What the heck?’ But, it’s a cool song to sing.”
On November 18, Scotty McCreery will release a deluxe version of his 2021 album, Same Truck, as well as a vinyl. The expanded edition includes six new tracks.
The country hitmaker revealed the news via social media in mid-September and also surprised fans with the release of the track “Nothin’ Right.”
“I’ve been sitting on these extra songs that we recorded since we started the Same Truck project and I’ve always wanted to hear this album on vinyl,” he wrote on Twitter.
“Nothin’ Right” has already become a staple in McCreery’s live shows.
“We’re performing ‘Nothin’ Right’ in the live shows right now and it always gets a great response,” he shared. “Don’t be surprised if a few more of the bonus tracks make their way into our concerts soon.”
Same Truck: The Deluxe Album was produced by Frank Rogers, Derek Wells, and Aaron Eshuis. Scotty McCreery serves as a co-writer on four of the six new tracks.
