The Christmas story starring Ashley Williams and Lucas Bryant chronicles the heartwarming journey of a young widow who returns home for the holidays with a certain Christmas wish in mind.

This serves as a follow-up to the 2021 original Christmas film, which was also inspired by McCreery’s chart-topping hit, “Five More Minutes.” This track appears on his 2018 album, Seasons Change

After sharing that last year’s Hallmark Channel movie is available to purchase on DVD at Walmart and other retailers, the American Idol alum revealed a few details regarding the upcoming holiday film.

“Don’t forget that the all-new “Five More Minutes: Moments Like These” movie will premiere on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on Dec.17. It’s not a sequel; instead, it’s an entirely new storyline.”

He added, “Both movies are inspired by my #1 hit song “Five More Minutes” which I wrote with Frank Rogers and Monty Criswell.”

The emotional track was the North Carolina native’s very first No.1 single on both Mediabase/Country Aircheck Country Singles Chart and Billboard Country Airplay Chart.

“I have believed in this song since the day I wrote it with Frank and Monty, and I am thrilled that the fans have believed in it as well,” McCreery previously shared in a statement. “This song was inspired by the passing of my grandfather, and I feel him with me every time I sing it. As I’ve said many times, it is my favorite song I’ve ever written.”

While McCreery won’t be making an appearance in either movie, he is credited as executive producer on the original film.

“It’s just one of those crazy things life throws at you,” McCreery previously told Holler of the opportunity last year. “It’s something amazing that we never thought about or envisioned when we wrote the song. It has always been special to me; it’s actually my favorite song that I’ve written. To have Hallmark call us and want to do a movie on it, a Christmas movie, I just thought it was a great idea”.

The upcoming movie marks yet another feat for McCreery this year. The list of accomplishments and millstones he has reached most recently includes welcoming his first son into the world with his wife Gabi and releasing six new tracks on his Same Truck: The Deluxe Album.

He also dropped his new single, “It Matters to Her,” which follows his five consecutive No. 1 hits: “Five More Minutes” (certified Double Platinum), “This is It” (two-week #1, certified Platinum), “In Between” (certified Gold), “You Time” (certified Gold), and “Damn Strait” (three-week #1, certified Gold).

As of Thanksgiving, the Garner, North Carolina native has officially wrapped up his paternity leave. Scotty McCreery is set to perform on November 30 in Las Vegas, NV before kicking off December at the Grand Ole Opry.
