With an already incredibly impressive catalog, Eric Church – nicknamed “The Chief” – recently released the third part of his triple album, &, to the public after being exclusively available to members of his fan club, the Church Choir. The title follows Heart and Soul, the previous parts of the trilogy. The six-track project can be found on standard CD, black vinyl, and digital platforms. To listen, click here.
“Small but mighty, the six-song collection simmers on vulnerable hits,” praises Entertainment Weekly of the Jay Joyce-produced project, with The Wall Street Journal celebrating Church as “knowledgeable and respectful of Country’s history, but not shackled by it” and Forbes acknowledging his penchant for “super-serving his loyal Church Choir crowd.”
Having topped the charts with Heart and Soul, & reflects the month Church spent in rural North Carolina, his home state, writing and recording a song from start to finish each day. With a Best Country Solo Performance GRAMMY nomination under his belt, the hitmaker found himself on the all-genre Top Album Sales chart in back-to-back weeks – along with having all three albums land in the Top 10 – and became the first country artist to hold both the top two spots on the Billboard Vinyl Albums chart since its inception in 2011, with Soul and &.
& is home to his tracks “Through My Ray Bans,” a song he dedicated to the fans he played for at the Route 91 Harvest Country Festival in Las Vegas, NV, as well as four brand new songs for the public: “Do Side,” “Kiss Her Goodbye,” “Mad Man,” and “Lone Wolf.” His latest single “Doing Life With Me” is also included.
The single was penned by Church along with Casey Beathard and Jeffrey Steele. The song showcases the entertainer’s appreciation for those who has supported his musical career.
I don’t pray much anymore
For this old troubadour’s
Happiness, wishes, wants and needs
End of my ropes, hopes and dreams
Spend my livin’ giving thanks
For the ships I never sank
Every big, every little in the everyday things
The notes and the words and the songs I sing
To the ones doing life with me
