The singing barber, Noah Peters, has made his way from TikTok to American Idol and his audition stands out as one of the most unique in the show’s history.

Where Is The Singing Barber From?

When introducing himself, the viral barber from Benton, Tenn. revealed he’s the only barber in his town and that he runs his very own shop.

Known as “the singing barber,” Peters has gone viral on TikTok with his performances, including one with a young boy where they performed Luke Bryan’s “Country Girl Shake It For Me.”

“[It] used to be just me singing, getting on people’s nerves, but now people come in just to hear me sing at the barbershop. It means a lot to me,” the contestant shared. “Ever since I was a child, I have dreamed of getting a golden ticket on American Idol. So getting to bring that back and frame it in my barbershop, it would mean the world to me.”

The Singing Barber Nails His American Idol Audition

It looks like his dreams are coming true because Peters’ audition more than won over the judges. Performing the Rascal Flatts hit “I Won’t Let Go,” the Tennessee native put his flawless vocals on display while accompanied by a guitar player.

He immediately earned praise from the judges panel as they clapped after his performance. Bryan could be heard saying, “There you go, singing with ease!”

Things then got interesting as Katy Perry questioned, “Don’t you feel a little naked,” referring to the fact that he’s used to singing while cutting someone’s hair.

“Yes, I do,” Peters admitted, adding “I’m used to walking around the whole time.”

“Do you think you’d sing better if you could give a haircut right now,” she asked him.

Peters confessed, “I definitely would.”

Next thing you know, a barber chair is being wheeled onto the American Idol set as well as a cat full of supplies.

What Song Did The Singing Barber Sing With Colin Stough?

The Idol hopeful promises to sing and cut as long as Stough sings with him. He happily obliges and they go on to perform a duet of  “Broken Halos” by Chris Stapleton while Peter trims up his hair.

After Stough left the set, Noah Peters prepared to learn the outcome of his audition.

Perry was the first to offer feedback. “I think that when I heard you sing just a little bit of ‘Broken Halos,’ when you were cutting, you were kind of not thinking about it and it was oozing out of you. I really want you to visualize that when you sing… that you’re just back at the shop just giving a trim. I just don’t want you to overthink. You’ve got some sweetness to your voice, some soul, some purity. But it’s definitely going to need a blunt edge here and there. Okay? Or some layers. Either way, it’s going to need some chip chop.”

Lionel Richie told him, “Don’t get psyched out. You have a quality in your voice. That’s fantastic. But more importantly, relax. I know that’s hard to say. Trust in who you are and what you sound like. You stay true to your lane. And you’ll be onto something.

Did The Singing Barber Make It To Hollywood On American Idol?

Bryan didn’t offer feedback and instead, prompted the panel to vote. Ultimately, Noah Peters earned a “yes” from all three judges, securing his dream of a golden ticket to Hollywood.

“I’ve never shook while cutting hair before, but it happened today. I’m so excited. I now get to put Colin Stough on my client list. Today was amazing,” he said with a smile.

The singer later added, “When you’re from a small town and nothing really happens, singing in front of big stars is a whole nother ball game for me. My life’s going to change is pretty nerve-wracking. But I’m so excited for this!”

American Idol airs on Sunday at 8/7c on ABC.
