Inspired by his time off the road, which allowed him to reconnect with what’s truly important in life, Thomas Rhett wrote and recorded enough songs to release a double album and he plans to share the first part of the project with fans on April 30.
Country Again: Side A will feature 11 tracks, entirely co-written by Rhett. Among the album’s tracklist are several songs Rhett previewed with fans on Instagram throughout 2020.
“’Country Again: Side A’ is everything I wanted to say when I was 19 years old, but hadn’t lived enough to know how to say any of those things yet,” the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year shared. “It’s about the crazy journey that took me out into the world over the last ten years and ultimately brought me back home, more centered and content than ever, with a deep understanding for what’s important in life.”
Along with the double album announcement, Rhett shared two brand new tracks, “Want It Again,” and “Growing Up,” with fans. Those who pre-order Country Again: Side A will automatically receive both songs as instant downloads.
Also included on the project is Rhett’s current hit single, “What’s Your Country Song,” and “Put It On Ice,” a collaboration with HARDY.
The husband and father of three looked to his personal life and family when creating the album and says the album serves as a “growing up path” for him.
“How else do you slow down unless you’re forced to?,” he explains. “For the first time, I had to look at myself and say ‘Who am I? Who is Thomas Rhett without a microphone or a guitar or a stage?’ I had to really dig deep and figure it out. So in many ways, 2020 was a big ol’ reality check, a complete reset. And when I finally settled into myself and my family, and started to work again, it completely influenced all of my songwriting.”
Side B is expected to arrive later this year.
