Thomas Rhett‘s seventh studio album, ABOUT A WOMAN is on the way. Arriving August 23 via The Valory Music Co, the 14-track project is expected to be drenched in love for his wife, Lauren Akins, something that Rhett has never shied away from with his music.
Fans got a taste of the forthcoming collection when the country star unveiled his addicting single, “Beautiful As You” in May and today, he shared another glimpse into the heartfelt tracks with his “irresistible” new song, “Gone Country.” This album promises a collection of celebratory tunes that blend romance, nostalgia, and a cutting-edge sound, guaranteed to get fans on their feet for the summertime season.
One track that is sure to capture listeners’ attention is “Don’t Wanna Dance,” a countrified interpretation of the Whitney Houston mega-hit “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me). Instead of following the original song’s heartbreak narrative, Rhett puts a twist on the classic song.
“From top to bottom, I wanted to exude joy and fun with this project – and really just make people move,” Thomas Rhett explained. “I went into making this record with a fearless attitude, put my blinders on and my head down to try and make really fun music.”
Rhett is credited as a co-writer on all but one of the 14 tracks, allowing him to pour his heart out through stories of real-life experiences and organic country anthems that pay homage to his love for his other half. As parents to four daughters, Rhett has admitted to the struggles he and his wife have faced in trying to find the time for themselves. However, in this current chapter of life, they appear to be finding more opportunities to connect as a couple, thus giving the critically acclaimed country star even more muse for his next collection of work.
“I feel like if you were to ask me what this record is about, the answer would be it’s about one woman, my wife, and it gave me an opportunity to say ‘I love you’ in a lot of different ways,” he added.
