Tim McGraw is really getting into character for his role in the upcoming Yellowstone spinoff, 1883.

The singer took to social media on Sunday (Oct. 31) to wish fans a Happy Halloween and was nearly unrecognizable with a full beard covering his face.

“Happy Halloween from Montana,” McGraw captioned the photo, which showcased the singer and his pumpkin carving.

The topic of conversation quickly turned to the Louisiana native’s beard with fans questioning whether or not it was real and some asking, “What’s with the beard?”

McGraw quickly clarified in the comments section, assuring fans, “Just so ya know, the beard is for ‘1883.’”

According to a press release, “1883 follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America. It is a stark retelling of Western expansion, and an intense study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land — Montana.”

Naturally, McGraw and Hill will play a couple: James and Margaret Dutton, the patriarch and matriarch of the Dutton family. Elliott will portray the role of Shea Brennan, a tough as nails, handsome cowboy with immense sadness in his past.

1883 will be executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, John Linson, Art Linson, David Glasser, Ron Burkle and Bob Yari.
