Tucker Wetmore has experienced a year of milestone firsts in his career and today he adds to that growing list of accomplishments with the release of his debut eight-song EP, Waves on a Sunset.

He first caught fans’ attention early on with his debut country radio single, “Wind Up Missin’ You,” the fan-favorite “Wine Into Whiskey” and “What Would You Do?” and then raised even more anticipation with the unveiling of “Silverado Blue.”  These songs combined with the four brand-new tunes introduce listeners to never-before-seen sides of the 24-year-old.

Wetmore acknowledged that he truly enjoyed the creative process behind this project because he had his buddies by his side, allowing them to create songs that they are proud of while making lasting memories along the way.

“I did it with my friends and I’m very proud of all the songs for sure,” he said wholeheartedly. “I’m proud of my team and all the writers…it was really just me and a bunch of buddies making music and that’s what I want it to be forever. It was just really cool.”

Creating A Fresh Yet Familiar Sound

In order to make the writing sessions more fun and lighthearted, Wetmore brought a few of his co-writers to a lake house. During this trip, they churned out several original songs that appear on this project, plus some that are set to arrive at a later date.

“It was just one of those things where we were just hanging out and we love to write songs, so that’s what we did and we’re putting ’em out now. I’ve been looking forward to this moment for years, putting on my first project, my first ‘Hello’ to the world, my first, this is who I am,” he continued. “I got so much more to say, but I can only do so much in eight songs. I’m excited. It’s going to be really cool.”

The overall vision for the EP was to create a sound that is fresh, but also familiar enough that the listener will want to go back and experience the captivating tunes over and over again. So he tapped into some of his older influences such as Hall & Oates, Queen, The Eagles, and Fleetwood Mac to find his own unique sound that will stand the test of time.

“Silverado Blue” offers a strong start to the project and also serves as a great addition to his live show, something Wetmore says he heavily considered when picking songs for the track list.

“Quite a bit of the decision for these eight songs was getting songs out that we can tour on. We wanted them to be good for the show, good for the live set, stuff like that, which is something that everybody has to think about, but I really had to think about it because I don’t have much out,” Wetmore admitted.

Showing A Softer Side

He also felt it was important to release songs that would let his fans explore different facets of his character and gain a deeper understanding of the artist he aims to become. From the sappy, smitten tune of “You, Honey” to the toe-tapping sounds of “Break First,” the tender message of fateful love in “When I Ain’t Lookin’” and the lonely heartbreak track, “Mister Miss Her,” we a good taste of the full-length album that Wetmore’s currently working towards. As he told Country Now and other media outlets, “I’m truly just scratching the surface.”

“I sat my team down and I was like, I don’t want to just do that. I want to say something, and I want to show something. Even if I can’t say it, I want to show that I do have a softer side in me and I truly just love, love. I show the deeper side with ‘Wine Into Whiskey,’ and ‘What Would You Do?’, which are songs that are already out, but that shows another side of me. And then you got the heartbreak side of me,” he explained.

The classic heartbreak-ridden country song that rounds out the project is “Mister Miss Her,” a stellar outside cut penned by Blake Pendergrass, Jaxson Free and Chris LaCorte that is the perfect way to close out this project and lead into what’s to come next.

“I’ve actually had that song on hold for I want to say five months maybe. It was just kind of sitting there, but I was like, no, it’s going to find a life and it’s going to find a purpose.”

He continued, “It’s showing all of the sides that I want to show in my next project, but only having the option of doing that through eight songs…this is what you can expect from me from here on out. And I’m excited about it.”

Waves On A Sunset Headline Tour Launches Tonight

The former Montana Tech football player will celebrate the release of his Waves on a Sunset EP by launching his first-ever headlining tour of the same name on Oct. 4.

With rehearsals taking place all week long, Tucker Wetmore can confidently say that this will be some of his biggest and best set of shows yet. He is gearing up to bring all-new production with epic light shows, risers, and much more.

“So far it’s just been me and my buddies playing music on a stage and playing these songs, but now we’re putting production behind it and now we’re putting not purpose because there has always been purpose, but a new purpose. So we want to make a show that people want to come back to and we want people to leave our show and be like, ‘that was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.’ That’s our goal as a whole group.”

The Kalama, Washington native will hit major markets throughout his nearly sold-out trek, with stops in cities such as Milwaukee, Chicago, Memphis, San Diego, and more.
