Walker Hayes’ newest song, “Good With Me,” was sent to impact airwaves following its release on Friday (Aug. 25). As a result, the song became the No. 1 most added song at Country Radio with 50 first-week stations.
To celebrate this success, the country star took to social media to share a clip of the moment he heard the news. A combination of shock and pure joy instantly spread across Hayes’ face, causing him to throw his arms up, scream in excitement and high-five his team for helping him achieve the high honor.
“My mind is blown! Thank you, country radio!” Hayes said in a recent press release. “To put out a song three days ago, and have you jump on this ride with me right away…man, I don’t take that for granted for a second. Can’t wait to watch this thing grow.”
He Reacts To The News
Co-written by Hayes with Scott Stepakoff and Shane McAnally, “Good With Me” finds the dad of six showing no hesitation as he lists off hypothetical names of people in the world to represent those who have a strong opinion on topics such as college athletes, religion, politics, and the definition of “real” country music. But towards the end, the Alabama native flips the conversation from things people don’t agree on to some of life’s most simple pleasures like fishing, days on the lake and spending time with loved ones.
“Well, Pam thinks Jesus is on his way / Doug thinks she’s a hoot / Rob thinks Bud Light makes you gay / Shane thinks Rob is cute / Coach thinks college athletes are making too much bank / Kim thinks COVID was a Chinese prank / Buddy thinks everything I sing sucks / ‘Cause it don’t sound like Hank,” Hayes sings in the opening verse.
This song serves as another example of the fact that Walker Hayes isn’t afraid to speak his mind within his music, however, he also chooses to embrace the happiness that comes his way through moments with his family, being out on the road with fans, etc.
“I wrote this sitting on my dock after a long day of work,” Hayes said as he reflected on the creative process behind the catchy tune. “It felt like everyone I’d interacted with that day felt they needed to unload their opinions. I didn’t mind listening, but I noticed so much anger in their tone. I sat and thought for a while about how I know what everyone thinks except me. I thought of Laney and the song spilled out.”

New Music
“Good With Me” also marks the first release off Hayes’ upcoming project, New Money, which is expected to showcase even more of his authentic songwriting skills that fans can’t seem to get enough of.
Out September 29, the eight-song will be the singer/songwriter’s first project since announcing his new partnership with Monument Records and RCA Records in July. That same month, Hayes also dropped another set of dance tracks on his Strait Two Stepping bundle.
This set of tunes features “Stetson” and “Show Me The Country,” a pair of upbeat jams with addicting rhythms, hip-swaying bass drops and sultry undertones.
“Couldn’t be more excited to continue working with RCA. Since my music is all over the map, I’m really looking forward to this next chapter with them and seeing how we can spread the bass/808’s. Can’t wait to dance with the world to these,” Hayes previously shared of the new songs.
Both tracks provide a captivating listening experience for any environment in need of a party-starting soundtrack. Amid the flowing rhythms, Hayes also pays tribute to the ways of traditional country with mention of George Strait, Willie Nelson and “Shania Twaing.”
