Walker Hayes Performance Drowns Out CBS Halftime Show Due To Major Audio Mishap

The Kansas City Chiefs welcomed Walker Hayes to Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday and the breakout star’s performance is one fans won’t soon forget. 

On Sunday afternoon (Jan. 30), during the AFC Championship matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals, Hayes’ entire performance was drowning out the televised halftime conversation between commentators James Brown, Nate Burleson, Phil Simms, Boomer Esiason and Bill Cowher.

It appears someone working for CBS failed to adjust the volume levels between the halftime performance and the analysts’ breakdown of the first half of the game. The commentators powered through but admitted they couldn’t hear each other as Hayes’ songs “Fancy Like” and “AA” blared over the speakers.

“I have no idea what you just said,” Esiason said to his colleagues.

Twitter erupted as fans joked about the situation. 

“Know one thing. A producer is getting fired today…,” wrote one Twitter user while another shared, “Yikes, don’t think CBS realized how disruptive the Walker Hayes halftime show would be during *their* halftime show. Can’t hear a word.”

Hayes reacted to the audio snafu after Barstool Sports called it the “loudest halftime show in history.” 

“@CBSSports thanks for having me,” Hayes wrote alongside several laughing crying emojis. 

Hayes’ halftime performance came just days after the release of his much-anticipated new project, Country Stuff The Album. The just-released album features 13 tracks, including his latest single, “AA.”
