Country music runs deep in Walker Montgomery’s roots. He grew up immersed in the industry as a son of John Michael Montgomery and nephew of Montgomery Gentry’s Eddie Montgomery. Throughout his upbringing and his own musical career, Montgomery has mastered the art of delivering love songs and he proves it through his new single, “I Love The Way You Love Me,” which serves as his rendition of his father’s 1993 hit.

The original recording of the heartfelt tune appeared on John Michael Montgomery’s debut album, Life’s A Dance, and became his first No. 1 single. It soared to the top of Billboard’s Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart and earned the title of ACM Song of the Year.

Penned by Chuck Cannon and Victoria Lynn Shaw, the just-released version carries the same emotional weight as the youngest Montgomery pours his heart out about the woman he loves.

“This is my favorite song of all time! It has been a constant sound in our household for many years. This song truly reflects where I am at this point in my life, and I can’t wait for it to become your favorite love song,” says Walker Montgomery.

His rich baritone vocals make him the perfect person to carry down this song’s legacy. With the romantic and nostalgia-laced melody flowing through the tune, Montgomery sweetly describes all the little things he appreciates most of his partner, including the way she says his name, her confidence to stand out and dance in the rain, and even how she loves to spend hours soaking in the bath. He loves all her good sides and bad sides, but the thing he is most grateful for is how much she shares that same passion for him.

“I like to imitate ol’ Jerry Lee/ And watch you roll your eyes when I’m slightly off-key/ And I like the innocent way that you cry/ At sappy old movies you’ve seen hundreds of times,” he sings in the second verse before belting out the chorus, “But I love the way you love me/ Strong and wild, slow and easy/ Heart and soul, so completely/ I love the way you love me.”

Montgomery shared his version of “I Love The Way You Love Me” to TikTok and saw it gain rapid popularity. In just twenty-four hours the video had over 1.9 million views and has since racked up more than 8 million views and counting across Walker’s TikTok page.

“The love y’all have showed for this song has been truly amazing. Thank you to everyone who’s listened so far. Let’s keep it going 🙌🏻,” Montgomery recently wrote on Instagram in lieu of the single’s fast-paced success online.

John Michael Montgomery gave his son a heartfelt shoutout following the release of the song.

“What a beautiful full circle moment. I am so happy Walker Montgomery is giving this song a new life and sharing it with a new generation. Amazing job, I am a proud Dad,” he wrote. “It’s available wherever you stream music. Hope everyone gives it a listen and relives this special song.”

Following his recent performance in Nashville, Walker Montgomery will head to Charlotte, NC on Sept. 20 followed by Liberty, KY on Sept. 27.
