Blake Shelton reunited with former The Voice coach, Kelly Clarkson, to kick off the LA premiere week of her show, The Kelly Clarkson Show

During his recent guest appearance, the two artists got the chance to chat about the new season of The Voice, which fans where sad to hear Clarkson will not be returning to.

Earlier this year, Kelly Clarkson announced she would be stepping down from her role on The Voice to take a much-needed break. Shelton will however be returning for another run with fellow coaches John Legend, Gwen Stefani, and Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello, who is serving as Clarkson’s replacement.

“So how are things at The Voice? I know you miss me,” Clarkson said prompting Shelton to give an update on what’s been happening on the show in her absence.

“Nobody’s you, okay let’s just say there’s only one Kelly Clarkson,” he responded. “But there is one person we’ve found that can talk as much as you and that’s Camilla.”

He joked that with their ability to talk at length, there is “no way” they would be able to be on the same season with each other.

Later on in the episode, Clarkson and Shelton dug into his signature track, “Austin.” Before he began singing his first hit in front of the live audience, Clarkson jumped in and mentioned she wanted to sing a few chords together.

Their banter continued as Shelton sarcastically said he had never heard her sing on The Kelly Clarkson Show before.

While strumming his guitar, Shelton took the lead on the first verse and Clarkson joined in on the chorus.

“If your callin’ ’bout the car, I sold it / If this is Tuesday night, I’m bowlin’ / If you’ve got somethin’ to sell your wastin’ your time, I’m not buyin’ / If it’s anybody else wait for the tone you know what to do/ And P.S., if this is Austin, I still love you,” they sang, earning a roar of excitement from the audience.

Shelton has come a long way in his career since releasing “Austin” in 2001 and The Voice has become a big part of his journey.

He currently stands as the longest-serving coach in the show’s history as he has appeared on every single season since it first aired in 2011. Not only has he been a judge on every season, but he’s also earned bragging rights for having the most wins. Shelton is also preparing for the first round of shows on his Back To The Honky Tonk Tour, which is set to launch on Feb. 16 in Lincoln, NE.

Season 22 of The Voice will air Monday, Sept. 19 at 8/7c on NBC. For the remainder of the season, the show will also air on Tuesdays at 8/7c.

“Y’all won’t want to miss this season of NBC’s The Voice,” he wrote on Instagram.

Although Clarkson won’t be returning to her chair this season, she will be staying busy with her family life and her hosting duties on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
