Brad Paisley recently delivered two more shows in Las Vegas as part of his One Man Six Strings residency at the Wynn. He likes to keep these acoustic performances fairly loose by skipping the strict setlist and instead inviting the crowd to help choose what he plays. But that fan-led approach took a hilarious turn one night when he received a request far outside of his realm.

It turns out that fans can get pretty creative when it comes to requesting songs. In a new video shared by the country icon himself, shock can be seen washing over his face as he realizes he was just asked to sing a rendition of Sir Mix-a-Lot’s massive global hit of 1992, “Baby Got Back.”

“This is getting out of hand,” Paisley joked. Even though this is a track he probably never expected to perform, he obliged nonetheless and immediately called to a team member backstage to pull up the lyrics for him.

Just before strumming his guitar, he thought out loud to himself saying, “How would Johnny Cash do ‘Baby Got Back’?”

“These are not my words,” Paisley prefaced, before launching into a countrified version of the song that went on to become the second-best-selling track in the U.S. in the early 1990s. The West Virginia native proved that he is truly capable of making any song his own, even one that centers around having a big backside and encourages women to embrace their curves.

The crowd laughed along as he delivered the lyrics as if they had come from a true country storyteller.

“That’s the way they shoulda cut that song,” he said at the end, causing fans to erupt in applause, showing that they clearly loved the unexpected performance.

His caption on the video said it all, “What happens in Vegas…This is what – when you let the audience decide what you’re gonna sing next.”

During a recent interview on Amazon Music’s Country Heat Weekly podcast, Paisley reflected on how these surprise and unexpected moments have become some of his favorite memories from his Sin City shows at the Encore Theater.

“I was in the middle of playing one of my songs and somebody yelled, ‘She’s in Love With The Boy,’ Trisha Yearwood.’ And I was like, ‘okay.’ Did whole song, didn’t even need the lyric…And that’s fun to me,” he acknowledged. “I was like, ‘you’re serious?’ They’re like, ‘yes, I’d love to hear you do that.’ And I’m like, alright, here we go.”

This weekend’s performances were the last Las Vegas dates on his tour schedule for the time being, but he has plenty more shows on the horizon, including a run across Canada to cap off the year.

Plus, besides the music, he and his wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley are staying busy with their free-referral based grocery store, The Store, which recently hosted its third annual Toy Store. Presented by Sam’s Club, this year’s event was able to provide Christmas gifts for more than 1000 children, thanks to help from 600 volunteers, the local community and generous sponsors from all over the U.S. who provided more than 5000 toys.

The Store has seen so much success in its mission of giving back since it opened in March of 2020, that it is now set to expand in 2026. A second location will be opened at TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville by mid-January.

Next year, Brad Paisley can also be found on the road, making his way throughout the U.S. as well as performing across Finland, Norway, Sweden, Germany and more.
