Sunday Night Football is back and so is Carrie Underwood

The CMA Entertainer of the Year nominee returned to NBC’s Sunday Night Football on Sunday evening with a brand new show opening.

The just-released clip features Underwood performing the iconic song “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night,” which is set to the melody of Joan Jett’s “I Hate Myself For Loving You,” and was previously performed by Faith Hill.

The show open was shot at Industrial Light & Magic’s LED sound stage with StageCraft LED’s dynamic virtual production technology. Utilized in The Mandalorian, the state-of-the-art system features a unique background of a football tailgate for Underwood’s performance of “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night.”

“Shooting the new show open for Sunday Night Football is one of the highlights of my year,” shared Underwood. “I just love the fact that we get to reinvent it every year.  The team behind these shoots is incredible and it’s always a really fun day, especially this year getting to work with such amazing state-of-the-art technology.”

“We are excited about this year’s new collaboration with Carrie, which utilizes virtual production technology to generate real-time environments for Carrie’s performance, including a ‘tailgate’ to salute this game’s great fans, who have been ‘waiting all day for Sunday night’ and will be incorporated with their own user-generated tailgate videos,” Tripp Dixon, creative director of the SNF show open, stated.

The video made its debut ahead of Sunday’s night’s game featuring the Chicago Bears facing off against the Los Angeles Rams.
