Nate Smith – World On Fire
Nate Smith released his blazing new music video for his latest single, “World On Fire,” on July 12.
In the video, Smith rocks out to this captivating anthem as he stands amid burning flames. Directed by Chris Ashlee, the video is meant to outline the passion Smith has during a live performance.
“I was thrilled when Chris Ashlee turned in the treatment for the music video because it would give fans an idea of what the energy is like at a live show,” Smith said in a release.
Written by Smith, alongside Ashley Gorley, Taylor Phillips, and producer Lindsay Rimes, “World On Fire” refers to the 2018 Camp Fire in Paradise, California, but is a metaphor for a failed relationship.
“You set my world on fire / Yeah, it’s all long gone / I’m watching flames get higher
And I can’t move on / I just gotta let it burn, burn, burn on down / Girl, without you it don’t turn, turn, turn around / You set my world on fire / You set my world on fire,” Smith sings in the chorus.
The breakup song becomes personal for Smith as he is originally from Paradise, Calif. and lost everything he owned in the most destructive wildfire in the state’s history. The metaphor for the song is revealed throughout his recently released debut album, which shares the journey of love and loss.
“World On Fire” is part of Smith’s 26 track self-titled album / deluxe version. The single sticks with Smith’s fiery theme as he moves between an extensive blend of rock and country.
“I have a fire theme in my songs,” Smith told Billboard. “It’s something that just stayed with me.”
Nate Smith (Deluxe) reached the largest album debut from a new artist in 2023 and the largest full-length album debut from a new artist in 2020. In addition to those achievements, the album hit No.6 on Billboard’s Country albums chart and No.30 overall on Billboard Top 200.
Smith says he connects with each song on the project and hopes that listeners will too.
“It was really hard to pick what songs we put on there, obviously, cause I’ve been writing a ton and stuff like that. But I just tried to pick songs that really meant something to me personally. So something that I’ve personally been through that I wrote about, or like somebody wrote a song and I connected to it in a way that was really special or I felt like, not only do I connect with it, but I think other people might as well,” he explained in a recent conversation with Country Now. “Like, this means something to me, but it’ll also mean something to you. I tried to be really selective with that, so it’s been a process. Alot of the songs are just different parts of my life that I’ve been through, heartbreaks and love and all the above.”
Widely known for his powerful vocals, Smith was nominated for NEW MALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR at the 58th ACM Awards. Additionally, he earned a nod for BREAKTHROUGH MALE VIDEO OF THE YEAR for his Platinum-certified No.1 hit “Whiskey On You” at the 2023 CMT Music Awards.
Smith is currently on tour with Thomas Rhett for his HOME TEAM TOUR 23 and he will continue touring with Cole Swindell on his TWELVE TOUR this fall.
