Is Ryan Gosling a Chris Stapleton super fan? It appears so!

Chris Stapleton Is The Musical Guest On SNL This Week

The Academy Award-nominated actor is gearing up to host NBC’s Saturday Night Live for the third time this week, and Stapleton happens to be making his third appearance on the show as a musical guest the same night.

Ahead of the show, Gosling showcased his love for the country superstar in a hilarious SNL promo.

In the clip, Gosling is seen wearing a Chris Stapleton “White Horse” t-shirt while holding a photo of the 10-time GRAMMY winner. Preparing to meet Stapleton in his dressing room, Gosling hypes himself up as he tries to come up with the best opening line possible to make a good impression on the Kentucky native.

As he shakes off nervous energy, Gosling can be heard saying, “Mr. Stapleton, big fan. Love your music. Nah, that’s stupid.”

After scraping that idea, he tries another, this time, hoping for a selfie. “Yo. Chris, one for the gram?”

Gosling finally lands on the line, “Master. Stapleton? ‘Tis I, sir. Gosling.”

“That’s cool,” he quips before opening the door.

Then, as he makes his way into the dressing room, Gosling stumbles on Stapleton’s signature cowboy hat. At first, he resists touching the hate, but eventually, temptation takes over and Gosling picks up the hat and puts it on top of his head. Just then, Stapleton’s “White Horse” begins to play as the screen fades into black.

Fans can tune in to see Ryan Gosling and Chris Stapleton on Saturday Night Live this Saturday, April 13 on NBC at 11:30 ET / 8:30 PT. The show is also available to stream live on Peacock.

Appearance Follows ACM Awards Nominations

Stapleton’s third SNL appearance comes on the heels of the nominations announcement for the 59th Academy of Country Music Awards. The reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year was one of the top nominees, raking in a total of five nods.

This year, he is nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for Higher (as both the artist and co-producer), and Artist-Songwriter of the Year. This marks his ninth consecutive nomination for Male Artist of the Year, an award he’s won three times throughout his career so far.

Earlier this year, Stapleton took home two GRAMMYs, bringing his career total to 10.

Stapleton is currently in the midst of his extensive All-American Road Show, bringing his electrifying headlining show to venues across the globe. Soon, he will headline the Hollywood Bowls for two nights, Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena for two nights, and also bring the show across the pond to the U.K., Ireland, and more.

This summer, he will reunite with the legendary George Strait for several stadium concerts around the country.
