Chayce Beckham and Lindsay Ell shared the music video for their current single, “Can’t Do Without Me,” on Wednesday (Feb. 2).

The seductive duet, produced by Ross Copperman and co-written by Jordan Walker, Trannie Anderson and Michael Carter, describes a couple’s long-awaited reunion. The just-released music video brings the song’s storyline to life perfectly.

The clip, directed by Matthew Paskert and filmed in rural Tennessee, finds Beckham in a Ford F150 truck and Ell in a 1964 Buick LaSabre convertible speeding down scenic back roads with heart-pounding anticipation to see each other.

When the Season 19 winner of American Idol and award-winning singer/songwriter finally reach the same destination in the clip, they unite to sing the track together in the glow of their vehicles’ headlights.

“’Can’t Do Without Me’ is about everyday people, the people who complete them and how strong the urge is to be with them again,” Beckham told CMT. “The video for it captures that feeling perfectly as two people race down the road, eager to get to the spot where they can finally be together and feel all the feels they’ve been thinking about all day.”

“That tension is definitely felt watching Chayce and I drive around, especially as we just barely keep missing each other on the road,” Ell added. “After the car chase, the final chorus feels like the perfect payoff to finally see us in a performance scene together.”

The steamy tune is currently at country radio and is climbing the charts with over 1.5 million on-demand streams.

Throughout the infectious collaboration, the BBR Music Group labelmates trade verses before harmonizing during the track’s chorus.

“Baby, I’m dying to catch that lighting I only find from your fingertips/ I’ve been missing and wishing to feel your kiss/ And your hands all on my skin/ It won’t be long ’til we are burning up ’em sheets/ And doing all those things that you can’t do without me,” they sing.

“Can’t Do Without Me” flawlessly showcases Beckham’s gritty country/rock vocals and Ell’s powerhouse pipes amongst a country-pop production.

At the time of the song’s release, Beckham shared his excitement over the opportunity to work with Ell.

“Working with Lindsay on this song was a blast,” Beckham previously shared. “Being in the studio with such a talented artist really took this song to another level for me.”

Ell was equally excited to work with Beckham.

“There is such a raw intensity in this song that when A&R brought it to me, I knew I had to cut it—it hit me like lightning,” she added. “Chayce, wow, did he bring it on this song. I had heard so many great things about him but he more than understood the assignment on this one.”

“Can’t Do Without Me” marks Beckham’s major label debut and follows the release of his self-penned debut single, “23.”

Ell currently serves as the host to Canada’s Got Talent and recently wrapped up her headlining Canadian tour.
