The pair sang “Half Of Me,” a duet featured on Rhett’s latest album, Where We Started.
Backed by a band, Rhett and Green energized the crowd at Municipal Auditorium with their upbeat collaboration.
“Half of me wants a cold beer / Yeah, that’s the cold hard truth / And with the ‘frigerator stocked full of ’em / Tell me what’s a boy to do? / I ain’t even tryna fight it, it’s already been decided / The sky and the mountains are blue / Half of me wants a cold beer / And the other half does too,” the pair sang on the chorus.
“Half of me already wants to rewatch @thomasrhettakins and @rileyduckman’s #CMTAwards performance of ‘Half Of Me,’ and the other half does too 🎶🍻,” CMT said after posting a short clip of the performance as a reel on Instagram.
Prior to taking the stage, Rhett teased the performance on his Instagram story.
“Y’all tune-in now!,” he wrote. “Performing #HalfOfMe with @rileyduckman!”
Rhett’s duet with Green is not the only collaboration on his new album. Rhett also teamed up with fellow country artists Tyler Hubbard (of Florida Georgia Line) and Russell Dickerson on “Death Row,” a redemptive track inspired by a visit the trio made to a Tennessee-based prison and with pop star Katy Perry on the emotional title track, “Where We Started.”
In addition, Rhett recently surprised fans at Florida’s Tortuga Music Festival by inviting Luke Combs on stage to cover Garth Brooks’ smash hit, “Friends In Low Places.”
“@lukecombs I think they like you man😂,” Rhett wrote on Instagram. “Sorry.. just had to share this bit of electricity from last night @tortugamusicfestival,” he added.
Meanwhile, Green teased fans about his upcoming summer tour. Green released album, We Out Here: Live in mid-March.
