Could Thomas Rhett and Russell Dickerson be future in-laws?

Over the weekend, the country stars and their families gathered together for a dual celebration of Easter and Thomas Rhett’s birthday in a sunny, outdoor setting. During the event, Dickerson’s wife, Kailey, captured an adorable video of their oldest son Remington, 3, and Rhett’s daughter Lennon, 4, walking hand-in-hand around the toy-filled yard. The clip also happened to catch Rhett’s live reaction to the sight, which caused him to do a double-take.

Rhett’s Live Reaction

While the “Mamaw’s House” singer was in a state of shock as he realized he could be watching his daughter with her future hubby, the moms were heard laughing behind the camera, and one even joked saying “We’ll show this at their rehearsal dinner.” Rhett was holding his youngest of four daughters, Lillie, as he walked back towards the camera while shaking his head in disapproval and giving a thumbs down.

Dickerson also shared the video to his Instagram story with text that read, “Thank God Thomas Rhett gon be paying for this wedding.”

“To The Guys That Date My Girls”

Fittingly, Rhett captioned his post with lyrics from his heartfelt song, “To The Guys That Date My Girls,” which can also be heard playing in the background. Co-penned by Rhett with his dad, Rhett Akins, alongside songwriters Will Bundy, Josh Thompson and Michael Trisler, the tune appears on his 2021 project Country Again (Side A) and serves as a letter to all the future men who will date his daughters.

The slow-tempo track finds the Georgia native sending a stern warning to these boys to make sure they treat his girls right. Along the way, he also offers some friendly fatherly advice pulled from his own experiences with dating and the lessons he’s learned over the years.

“To the guys that date my girls, let’s get one thing straight/ When you pick ’em up, show up early, when you bring ’em home, don’t be late/ Mind your manners ’round their mama, boys, yeah, for what it’s worth/ If you wanna get to their heart, you’ll have to get to hers,” he sings in the opening verse.

Rhett continues, “And I know they won’t be young forever/ But I’m gonna hold on as long as I can So, when you take their hand, remember/ You’re holding my whole world/ Just a friendly reminder to the guys that date my girls.”

Rhett Has Been Enjoying Quality Family Time

Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren are parents to four daughters: Willa Gray, 8, Ada James, 6, Lennon Love, 4, and Lillie Carolina, 2. Being a country superstar and a dad of four simultaneously has been no easy task for Rhett, but over the last eight months, he’s made sure to spend some time off of the road to enjoy days with his family and also work on his next album.

“We toured so hard in 2023, I was like what would it look like to take some time off between tours. So I’ve spent the last 8 months making a record, and this is the first time I’ve had time to make a record,” he revealed on the Country Countdown USA with Lon Helton.

Rhett went on to say that this forthcoming new project came as a result of having “a lot more freedom.” As a result, he explained that the theme among the track list is “joy,” because that’s how he wants his wife and kids to feel when they listen to it.

“It’ll be ready soon,” he teased.

“Mamaw’s House” Featuring Morgan Wallen Goes No. 1

In the meantime, Rhett is celebrating the success of his song, “Mamaw’s House” featuring Morgan Wallen as it has officially landed at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay. This marks Rhett’s 22nd No. 1 at country radio and Wallen’s 12th.

“Morgan & I wrote this song in 2020 on Zoom. Halfway through the session, Morgan got a call from his grandmother. After that, we decided to write a song about our grandmothers. The fact that we can write a song about our grandmothers and it could be a #1 is pretty awesome.”

“This song wasn’t even supposed to be a single, and now it’s becoming a hit,” he added.

Throughout the year, fans will have the chance to see Thomas Rhett perform the song live as he is slated to take the stage at several highly-anticipated events like Boots in the Park, CMA Fest, Windy City Smokeout, Country Jam, and more.
