Megan Moroney is one of the top recognized artists at the 61st Annual Academy of Country Music Awards with nine nominations, including her first nod in the category of Entertainer of the Year. However, the songstress has confirmed that she will not be attending tonight’s show despite the chance to win several major awards.

But Moroney has a good reason for not making an appearance. She has revealed that she is out of the country this weekend, acting as Maid of Honor for her best friend and UGA sorority sister, Natalie King’s wedding. King is often seen joining the “Cloud 9” singer on her many adventures on the road in support of her massively growing career so this time, it was Moroney’s turn to be there for her friend.

She took to Instagram story on Sunday, May 17, just hours before the star-studded night, to let fans know why they won’t be seeing her on the show this year.

“I’m so honored to be nominated tonight at ACM Awards and I’m rooting on all my friends from afar! I’m out of the country this week on MOH duty to get my bestie married,” she wrote alongside a blurry photo of her sporting a baby pink sweat set with “Bridesmaid” written on the pants while her “bestie” Natalie had on a light blue version of the same set that read “Bride.”

Moroney shared extra love with her fans and expressed her excitement to kick off her massive Cloud 9 arena tour on May 29.

“I 🩷you guys & I can’t wait to see y’all in columbus! Counting down the days.”

The wedding comes nearly two months after the UGA alums jetted off to the Bahamas for King’s bachelorette trip in celebration of her final days as a single woman before tying the knot.

Although Megan Moroney’s presence will be missed at the 2026 ACM Awards, she still has the opportunity to claim several wins. She is one of the female acts who are dominating this year’s show with nominations in the categories of Entertainer of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (“Am I Okay?”), Single of the Year (“6 Months Later”), Music Event of the Year (“You Had To Be There” with Kenny Chesney), and Visual Media of the Year (“6 Months Later”).

Additionally, Moroney was nominated for Artist-Songwriter of the Year, however that win went to Ella Langley prior to the show.

Hosted by Shania Twain, the ACM Awards are set to stream live exclusively on Prime Video for a global audience across more than 240 countries and territories on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT / 5 p.m. PT from the iconic MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Fans can also tune in via the Amazon Music channel on Twitch and through the Amazon Music app.
