Zach Top has made his debut as part of Dierks Bentley’s comedic supergroup, Hot Country Knights, and fans simply can’t get enough of his alter ego, “Billy Bottoms.”
Top has been welcomed into the ‘90s influenced group while serving as a special guest on Bentley’s headlining Broken Branches Tour. Over the weekend, Top appeared alongside Bentley’s persona Douglas ‘Doug’ Dougalson during the Hot Country Knights portion of the show, performing a cover of “Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)” by John Michael Montgomery.

For those who are unaware, Hot Country Knights is Dierks Bentley’s joke-slinging jam band who popped up in early 2020. The group is comprised off lead singer Douglas ‘Doug’ Dougalson, as well as lead bass player Trevor Travis, lead guitarist Marty Ray (“Rayro”) Roburn, keytar/fiddle player Terotej (“Terry”) Dvoraczekynski, steel guitarist Barry Van Ricky and percussionist Monte Montgomery. Additionally, Charlie Worsham recently joined as Dylan Douglason, Doug’s cousin.

“I’ve never needed the rest of a video more, one user declared.
Another pointed out, “The fact he doesn’t have a wig or a fake mustache.. this was made for him.”
This isn’t the first time the Hot Country Knights have welcomed an outsider. In 2023, Lainey Wilson joined as character “Darla McFarland.” Together, they released the song, “Herassmeant.”
“Garth and Trisha. Tim and Faith. Brooks and Dunn. And now… Doug and Darla #Herassmeant,” the group previously wrote on Instagram.
Hot Country Knights closes out Dierks Bentley’s shows with an epic ‘90s country revival, featuring covers of hits like “Chattahoochee,” “I Like It, I Love It,” “Meet In The Middle,” “Achy Breaky Heart,” and more.

The Broken Branches Tour kicked off on May 29 and features Bentley with special guests Top, and The Band Loula. This trek is in support of Bentley’s brand new album of the same name, which dropped on June 13.
The project, which marks the superstar’s 11th studio release, includes 11 tracks with several special guests featured throughout, including Riley Green and John Anderson, as well as Miranda Lambert and Stephen Wilson Jr.

Broken Branches is a true celebration of the underdogs of the world and highlights Bentley’s honest storytelling.
