Adam Doleac and his wife, MacKinnon, are expecting their second child! The couple, already parents to their first son, Jack, born March 23, 2024, shared the news exclusively with Country Now.

While the news officially dropped today via Instagram, some eagle-eyed fans may have already caught the clues about the life update from the music video for the title track of Doleac’s just-released album, Dream House. The video features a clip of the family of three plus a “big bro” t-shirt hanging clearly within the shoot.

“I thought it’d be fun for the fans and some people that pay close attention to put it in the ‘Dream House’ video,” Doleac explained of the idea to plant an Easter egg in the clip. “I thought it’d be fun just to give people something to look for. I always think it’s funny people that maybe watch the video and didn’t see it, whenever we do announce they’ll go back and be like, I completely missed that.”

With Jack being just over a year old, Doleac admits it will likely take some time before he fully comprehends exactly what his new role as a big brother looks like. But the couple is feeling nothing but excitement as they look to this next chapter as a family.

“I think three or four is our ultimate end goal number…their due dates are going to be almost exactly two years apart. Becoming a dad has been my favorite thing I’ve ever done in my life by a mile, not even close,” he said. “And I don’t know if I got what we call a trick kid that’s so good with Jack that makes me want to have four or five, but it’s been so fun that I’m excited to add another one. I’m excited for him to become a brother, and so we’re both very, very excited.”

Doleac says he has always envisioned being able to have a family of his own one day, but he didn’t truly understand the weight that role would play in his life until he became a father himself last year. From that moment on, his perspective has admittingly changed, in all the best ways.

“I think that’s one of those things you have to feel to actually know what it feels like,” he explained. “Again, it’s been my favorite job I’ve ever had, my favorite phase of life I’ve ever been in. It’s all, I can’t really say enough about the purpose it’s given me, the mindset it’s given me. It’s just all those things have been multiplied even more than I could have thought.”

Becoming parents just felt natural for him and MacKinnon. In fact, he says they have fallen even more in love with each other since embarking on the journey together.

“It’s been all the way around, just such a great thing. And so we’re excited to add more, and I tell my wife, I’m like, ‘This one will probably be an absolute nightmare and not sleep through the night.’ So I always say one kid at a time, and we’ll decide if we’re going to have another one after that one.”

“Dream House” isn’t the only song that pays tribute to this chapter of Adam Doleac’s life. The entirety of the album touches on the emotions, the triumphs and the moments of reflection that have evolved as a result. Much like the “Dream House” video, he secretly dropped another teaser in the music video for the track “Big Day in Our Little World.”

The majority of the video weaves sweet moments between the family of three with glimpses of Doleac performing the heartfelt track, making it feel more like a nostalgic home movie rather than a traditional music video. Toward the end, the camera hones in on the lovebirds who flash big smiles before revealing the positive pregnancy test to the camera, confirming that they are expecting baby number two.

This song made such an impact on the new album that Doleac says it almost became the title track instead of Dream House. It’s especially meaningful to him, serving as a reminder to slow down and savor life’s most important moments.

“There’s so many new artists and musicians and songs coming out every day and everybody wants to go viral. Everybody wants the top spot on the headlines, and sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in that. I think one thing for me that I’ve been able to do since starting a family and kind of seeing how that feels and it really changes your perspective on everything. Your priorities are in a different order, and so I’ve been really able to step back and say that it doesn’t have to be a big day for the rest of the world. It doesn’t have to make a headline, it doesn’t have to go viral. It doesn’t have to get a million views for it to be a big day in our little world.”

Each of the 12 tracks on his third-full-length project tells a story that captures exactly what this next season looks like for Adam and MacKinnon and highlights everything from the quiet nights at home to the biggest milestones. The title, he explains, isn’t about a physical 5,000 square foot house home, but about finally achieving his dreams with the people inside the house.

“I called this record ‘Dream House’ because I’m living in my dream house for the first time in my life. It’s been really cool to watch,” he admitted.

Throughout his life, Doleac has chased a variety of dreams, from playing professional baseball to building a successful music career, but becoming a husband and father stands out as his greatest accomplishment yet. This record explores that journey.

“I’ve always dreamed of being a dad. I always dreamed of getting married. I’ve always dreamed of buying a house with my wife, that kind of stuff. It’s been fun to watch different kinds of dreams come true. Those dreams are a little bit different than sports or music, and so that’s kind of where I’ve been in my life, is getting to watch all that stuff kind of start to come true. I think I’ve talked about ‘one day’ my entire life, I’ll get married at this age and have kids at this age and it’s kind of funny. It turned out, I was wrong about all of it, but I have finally gotten to watch those things happen.”

Adam Doleac is responsible for co-writing every song on the album, with the oldest being only about two and a half years old. But most of the songs didn’t come to fruition until after he got married and welcomed his first child, meaning this is the first time in 10 years as a songwriter of covering these themes with this much depth and honesty.

“There’s songs like ‘Playing Catch’ that’s really about my own dad, but I didn’t have the perspective to write that before becoming a dad. And same and same with ‘All Moms Go to Heaven,’ which is a song I haven’t really teased much, but same for that, is thinking about watching not only my own mom growing up, but my wife,” Doleac noted.

He continued, “The definition of love has been completely reshaped in my heart and that’s where all these songs came from and I think that’s why it’s so special for me. It’s not only the best music I’ve ever made in my opinion, but I think I’m the best version of me that I’ve ever been. And so it’s cool to see all that come out on the page and in these songs and I think it’s going to be an album that a lot of families out there will listen to and really relate to, especially people that are in the same kind of spot in life that I am, starting a family, building a family, that kind of thing. And even those that are past that or looking forward to that, I think it’s something that they can either picture or look back on and smile.”

While fans have already connected with previously released songs including title track “Dream House,” “Bar Named Jesus (ft. Thomas Rhett),” “Didn’t We,” “Playin’ Catch,” “Day One (ft. Madeline Merlo)” and “Bye Heart,” the Mississippi native debuted six new tracks that bring the story full circle.

As Doleac continues to embrace fatherhood and family life, Dream House serves as a soundtrack to the journey, offers a reflection of where he’s been and previews where he’s headed next.

Adam Doleac will bring many of these songs to life on the road throughout his Dream House Tour. This trek finds him playing sold-out, intimate venues across the country with upcoming stops in major cities including Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York City and more.
