Alan Jackson and his wife Denise Jackson are set to celebrate their 47th wedding anniversary this December, but their 50th anniversary since first meeting back in high school. To honor their love that has never faded, Jackson has dropped a very semimetal cover of Orleans’ “Still The One.”

The new recording arrives just days before the country music icon is set to deliver the final concert of his career on June 27 at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium. This proves that even though his performing days may be over, he might not be closing the door on creating new music just yet.

“Still The One” was originally released by the pop rock band in 1976, the same year Jackson and Denise started dating in high school. In a new video he reveals that the reason he decided to record his own country version is because of the core memory that is attached to this song.

“50 years ago in 1976, in Newnan, Georgia, I started dating this young girl. She was a cheerleader for Newnan High School,” Alan Jackson shares in an Instagram post. “And one day, she went over to a friend’s house, a girlfriend’s house, and I went over there and hung out a while, and she was practicing her dance routine for the cheerleading squad and the football game to a hit song that was a hit that summer called ‘Still The One,’ I think by a group called Orleans.”

He goes on to recall watching her perform in the room that day and before he knew it, they were married three years later. To this day there is no doubt in his mind that she is “still the one” for him.

“So in honor of 50 years ago, this has always been one of our old fond memories of our starting out days. Any time we hear that song, it brings back these memories. So in honor of the 50 years, I went into the studio and recorded that little pop song with some country seasoning, and I gave it to her for her birthday, ’cause she’s still the one.”

The heartfelt tune serves as a tender tribute to a rare kind of lasting love. Jackson’s baritone vocals belt out the story as strong and clear as ever, celebrating the relationship that has only grown stronger with time, all because the couple continues to choose each other every single day.

He sings, “You’re still the one that makes me laugh/ Still the one that’s my better half/ We’re still having fun and you’re still the one… You’re still the one that I love to touch/ Still the one and I can’t get enough/ We’re still having fun and you’re still the one.”

Jackson added his own country flair throughout the song by incorporating the fiddle and his own commentary throughout, including the line “I love you sugar,” to close out the track.

He and his wife have stood by each other’s sides through thick and thin, through sickness and health, the challenges of his career, raising their children, and now caring for their grandchildren.

She has even remained one of his biggest supporters throughout his journey with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. The Georgia native first revealed his diagnosis with the neurological condition in 2019. Ever since then, he has donated a portion of each ticket sold to the CMT Research Foundation. His efforts to bring awareness to the disease have raised more than $2.25 million over the years.

This weekend, the Country Music Hall of Famer will officially retire from touring. Once tickets went on sale, fans from across the U.S., Canada, and countries including Australia, Brazil, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, and the U.K. all rushed for the chance to secure a spot for the once-in-a-lifetime show.

More than half a million people registered for the pre-sale resulting in all 55,000 tickets being purchased before going on sale to the general public.

“I’m proud and overwhelmed by the response from my fans. I’m just sorry there weren’t enough seats for everybody who wanted one,” Alan Jackson shared in a statement. “I appreciate all the people that have come to my shows and supported me over the years.”

Alan Jackson’s Last Call: One More for the Road – The Finale is set for June 27, 2026, in Nashville. The show will celebrate Jackson’s 35+ years of touring as he retires from the road.

Joining Jackson for the special evening is an all-star lineup, including Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Riley Green, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Jake Owen, Jon Pardi, Thomas Rhett, George Strait, Carrie Underwood, Lainey Wilson, Lee Ann Womack, and more.
