Alan Jackson and Daugher, Mattie

Alan Jackson is one proud pop.

The Country Music Hall of Famer took to Facebook on Wednesday to share a sweet snap of himself with his eldest daughter Mattie. The photo showcased Alan and Mattie in what appeared to be a recording studio.

“Well, there’s one more exciting surprise on the horizon I can’t wait to share,” Mattie captioned her post. “Incredibly thankful to have Dad’s support in sharing my story of healing with y’all soon!”

Jackson shared the post to his page with the simple caption: “Proud Dad Moment.”

Neither of them elaborated too much on what they are working on together, however, Mattie recently shared that she is working on a book following the tragic and untimely death of her husband, Ben Selecman, who lost his life in 2018 after suffering a head injury after falling on a boat dock near West Palm Beach, Florida.

At the time of his death, Mattie and Ben had been married less than one year. He was only 28 years old.

On September 9, Mattie shared that she was recording the audio for her book and that more details about the project would come this fall.

“This coming weekend will mark 3 years since I lost the love my life; 3 years since the future I’d planned and the marriage I’d prayed for were snatched away,” she wrote. “This week I have had the unbelievable experience of recording the audio of my very first PUBLISHED BOOK – one that charts my pain and struggles and, ultimately, restored trust in Jesus as I’ve grieved Ben these past years.”

Ben’s death had a profound impact on the country superstar as well. He previously opened up to Hits Daily Double about Ben’s passing and the grief he felt in the time after.

“When he died, I was kind of pissed off at the world,” Jackson admitted. “I just wasn’t feeling right about anything. You know how I was raised: I grew up with four older sisters, then Denise and our three girls. It’s all I was ever around: girls and women. So having a son-in-law was having a boy I could fish with, work on cars and stuff with. It was tough losing him so suddenly—so jarring to all of us. I lost something I’d never had before.”

While Alan and Mattie have yet to confirm exactly what they are working on together, it’s safe to say it’s likely related to Mattie’s new book.
