Rising singer/songwriter Carlisle Wright received the surprise of a lifetime when her uncle, country music icon Alan Jackson, invited her to make her Grand Ole Opry debut.

The emotional moment took place on June 7, which also marked the 35th anniversary of Jackson’s Grand Ole Opry induction, making the invitation even more meaningful.

Wright shared the special moment on social media, where she can be seen answering a phone call from Jackson, whom she affectionately calls “Uncle Hat.”

During the conversation, Jackson reflected on his own Opry debut, recalling how nervous he was with country music legend Roy Acuff watching from the wings. He then extended an invitation that left Wright speechless.

As soon as she realized what was happening, Wright broke down in tears. She quickly assured Jackson they were “happy tears” as she gratefully accepted the opportunity to step into the famed circle for the very first time.

Before ending the call, Wright, who is helping introduce a new generation of fans to traditional country music, promised her uncle that she would continue to “keep it country.”

“One of my biggest goals is to play the Grand Ole Opry,” Wright shared in a statement. “Words can’t describe how special it was to have my Uncle Hat invite me to make my Opry debut. Knowing that I will be a part of a classic country music tradition and stand in the same circle as so many of my heroes is an indescribable feeling.  Here’s to Keepin’ It Country.”

Wright has been building momentum in a big way. The rising country artist recently took home top honors at the 2026 Belmont University Country Showcase and made her CMA Fest debut on the Tractor Supply Spotlight Stage on June 6.

Later this month, she’ll add another major milestone to her growing resume when she opens for Jackson during his sold-out Last Call: One More For The Road – The Finale concert at Nissan Stadium on June 27.

Known for embracing traditional country sounds, Wright has introduced fans to her music through songs like “Honkytonk Talkin’” and “Half My Heroes.”
