Chayce Beckham recently premiered the official music video for his self-written breakout song, “23.”
Prior to the release of the music video, Beckham made several Instagram posts teasing the arrival and keeping the fans’ suspense high.
Video Teaser
The music video opens with Beckham acoustically playing his guitar, putting immense focus on the formidable lyrics to come. Corresponding with each verse, a younger version of Beckham is seen working in the summertime heat, guzzling booze, and falling in love.
As the video continues, young Beckham and his longtime girlfriend have a falling out due to excessive drinking. In response to their breakup, Beckham once again looks for comfort in the bottle. He goes to the bar and instigates a fight with another customer.
At the conclusion of the video, before he gets arrested, the younger Beckham makes eye contact with the older version of himself. The older version of himself breaks the stare and continues to walk on by.
Watch
The song was initially released during Beckham’s American Idol season where he was crowned the champion.
He was the first-ever American Idol competitor to win the competition with an original song and it instantly skyrocketed to the top of several viral charts, including No.1 on iTunes All-Genre and Country charts.
Gold Surprise
The California native returned to American Idol last Spring and was surprised with a Gold plaque for the song.
“When they said that “23” was gold, I never, that wasn’t on my radar that the song was anywhere near gold or I don’t even know how you get a gold record these days,” Beckham explained in a recent conversation with Country Now. “I was totally caught off guard. And yeah, it was definitely a super, super meaningful moment just to have Luke give it to me. He’s been a part of my career since I left the show, so it’s just cool memories and it just feels like a good accomplishment.”
“23” tells the personal and true story of Beckham’s life before auditioning for American Idol. It is a gut-wrenching tale about a man taking hold of the bottle to endure the hardships of his life.
“Now I’m 23 and there ain’t nobody who can drink like me / Soon I’ll be 24 and the lord knows that I can’t drank no more / I know I shoulda taken it slow / It’s not the way that my life goes / Now I know / When you’re passed out on the floor / You’re sober by 24,” Beckham sings in the chorus.
As a debut single, “23” has had a big impact on Beckham’s career. Though it was released back in 2021, it is still generating attention. It made it all the way to country radio this last January, and now it’s come full circle with the release of the official music video.

On Tour
Beckham is currently traveling with Luke Bryan for his 2023 Country On Tour. He’s also slated to join Bryan on the Farm Tour this fall.
Additionally, Chayce Beckham will appear at several festivals, including Watershed, later this summer. A complete list of upcoming tour dates can be viewed on his official website.
On the music front, Beckham recently put out the sentimental tune “Til The Day I Die” and plans to continue to release new music in the coming months.
