A popular country music singer recently gave a Waffle House employee the surprise of a lifetime when he left her a $1,000 tip on his to-go order.

According to WGHP, Shirell “Honey” Lackey was working a double shift at Waffle House in Greensboro, North Carolina when a country music singer, who she wants to keep anonymous, ordered a to-go meal.

The singer noticed that Lackey was working while taking care of her baby girl and initially tipped $50. However, moments later, someone from his team returned to the restaurant, where Lackey was working from from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m., with a $1,000 tip.

“He was like, ‘I have to respect a mother that would do whatever it takes to support their child in a society where people don’t even want to work anymore,’” Lackey shared with WGHP.

On top of the $1,000 tip, the singer also gifted Lackey two concert tickets and sent baby clothes and other baby items to her home for her young daughter, Bella.

“It feels good to be recognized,” she continued. “I mean, I don’t do it to be recognized, I do it because Bella is everything, but it’s nice to be recognized for doing the things we do as mothers.”
