Billy Ray Cyrus and his fiancée, FIREROSE, recently released their new single, “Plans,” and they’re set to perform the duet on Good Morning America on August 31.

The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer was first to announce their upcoming performance on GMA through a Tweet he posted on Saturday (Aug. 26). Cyrus shared a live photo from one of their recent performances together alongside a caption that read, “Looking forward to performing our new single #Plans on @GMA this week.”

FIREROSE, whose real name is Joanna Rosie Hodges, later shared the news on her own social media page, claiming that she “Absolutely can’t wait!”

For their upcoming performance, Cyrus and FIREROSE will be joined by several New York Youth Symphony members as well as “Plans” producer Justin Morgan on guitar.

Fans can tune in to see the couple on GMA this Thursday, August 31, at 7/6c AM on ABC.

Cyrus and the critically acclaimed songstress dropped their powerful duet on August 11 via Kind Music Group and premiered it live on the Grand Ole Opry Stage that evening. Since its debut at No. 29 on Mediabase’s AC Radio chart, the song has continued to rack up success among streaming and radio.

Penned solely by two-time Golden Globe winner and 14-time Oscar-nominated songwriter Diane Warren, “Plans” finds the artists celebrating their love for one another as they anticipate spending the rest of their lives together and falling in love over and over again in the process. Cyrus’ baritone vocals blend effortlessly with his other half while their harmonies dance together around the haunting instrumentals.

“Have you got plans for forever / Do you have ’til the end of time free / Have you got plans for forever / Do you wanna make them with me / ‘Cuz I swear there’s nothing else I’d rather do / Than plan the rest of my life with you,” they sing on the chorus.

While gushing about FIREROSE’s talent via a press release, Cyrus admitted that the songstress typically doesn’t record outside cuts, however, there was something about this story that touched her heart so deeply that she couldn’t turn it down.

“FIREROSE is one of the best lyricists I know and actually takes great pride in only recording songs that she has written. So when she came to me one day so excited about a song she’d just received from another songwriter, needless to say, I was quite surprised,” he shared. “Then I heard the name of the writer and she played me the demo, and I realized her exuberance was justified. ‘Plans’ is by Diane Warren — one of the most legendary songwriters of our time.”

“When FIREROSE and I collaborate in our diverse musical styles, it makes a unique blend of pop-country. They say the rest is history, but in this case…it’s the future,” he said in conclusion.

FIREROSE also took a moment to share nothing but love for both this song and for Cyrus who helped her bring the song to life.

“It’s very meaningful for me to be singing the powerful love song with Billy. Diane Warren’s unparalleled talent has always inspired me tremendously as a songwriter. When she sent me ‘Plans’ I immediately knew it was made for us,” she added.

In addition to “Plans,” they have teamed up on a number of songs including the 2021 release, “New Day,” and “Time.”

The couple recently showcased “Plans” during the 16th Annual Academy of Country Music Honors. The event, dubbed the “Country Music industry’s favorite night,” brings some of the top talent in country music together under one roof to celebrate their success and impact on the genre.

Billy Ray and FIREROSE were selected to appear in honor of the recipient for this year’s ACM Spirit Awards – the late Charlie Daniels. Together, they took the stage alongside rising star Travis Denning to perform a cover of Daniels’ “Long Haired Country Boy.”

Hosted by Carly Pearce, the 2023 ACM Honors took place on Wednesday, August 23 at The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee and will premiere on September 18 at 8/7c on FOX.

The musically driven couple first met on the set of Hannah Montana, a Disney Channel series starring Billy Ray’s daughter Miley Cyrus. This show aired between March 2006 and January 2011. This led to Billy Ray and FIREROSE to build a strong friendship as they kept in touch over the years and found a bond over music. Then, following his divorce from his now ex-wife Tish Cyrus, who is the mother to four of his children, Billy Ray began dating FIREROSE and the pair announced their engagement in the fall of 2022.

While confirming the news with People at the time, Billy Ray gushed about his partner as he said, “She’s the real deal.”

They also revealed that the proposal took a less traditional route as there was no involvement of a ring or getting down on one knee. Instead, he simply popped the question in the comfort of their Tennessee farm.

“Billy looked at me and said, ‘Do you, do you wanna marry me?’ And I was just like, ‘Of course I do. I love you,’ ” FIREROSE explained. “He said, ‘I love you. I wanna make this official. I wanna be with you forever.’ “

FIREROSE later picked out and designed her own custom diamond ring.

“I’ve spent my life worried about things that are beyond my control. But at this spot in my life, knowing that all you really have is the happiness that you feel inside your mind and your heart…” Billy Ray said before pausing as tears began to flood his eyes. “Finding Firerose and getting engaged and then losing my mom [a few weeks later]—see? The teeter-totter will not stay in the middle, but having somebody to ride it out with now—that’s giving me a little more balance.”

Aside from their upcoming appearance on Good Morning America, FIREROSE and Billy Ray Cyrus have yet to share news of any upcoming show dates.
