Billy Ray Cyrus, 62, filed for divorce from Australia-born singer/songwriter, FIREROSE, 37, on May 22, 2024 in Nashville, TN.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, “irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct” are listed as the reasons for the split. Cyrus is also reportedly seeking an annulment from the court, claiming the marriage was “obtained by fraud.”
This news comes less than a year after the couple said “I do” in October of 2023.
How Did The Couple Meet?
FIREROSE, whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodges, first crossed paths with the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer in 2010 while on the way to an audition. While she unfortunately did not get the role, her encounter with Cyrus led to an opportunity to meet with the producers of the Disney Channel show, Hannah Montana, starring Cyrus and his daughter, Miley Cyrus. This was the beginning of longstanding friendship between the singer/songwriters/actors.
Cyrus was previously married to his now ex-wife Tish Cyrus from 1993 until April of 2022 when the couple filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Together, they had two daughters, Miley and Noah, and a son Braison. Cyrus also adopted Tish’s two children from her former marriage – Brandi and Trace.
Following the divorce, he reconnected with FIREROSE over their shared love for music, and eventually began dating. The pair announced their engagement in the fall of 2022 and then officially tied the knot on Oct. 10, 2023.
Billy Ray Cyrus And FIREROSE Have Released Several Duets
In 2021, the couple released their first collaborative single, “New Day,” a genre-crossing duet co-written with Cyrus and produced by FIREROSE, Cyrus and Pedro Calloni. Their catolog of love-filled duets has continued to grow with songs like “New Day,” “Time,” their Top 20 single “Plans,” and their latest release, “After The Storm,” which was unveiled March 29, 2024.
“After The Storm,” was written by Firerose and Billy Ray Cyrus with Paul Duncan and produced by Justin Morgan.
“The message in ‘After The Storm’ is so powerful and timely. It’s one of the most prolific songs I have ever been a part of. I hope it does for your spirit what it has done for mine,” said Billy Ray Cyrus.
FIREROSE added, “Only by the grace of God did I survive my darkest nights. There is so much truth in these lyrics and it’s my purpose to help others find strength in their toughest hours.”
In lieu of the news of their divorce, Billy Ray Cyrus and FIREROSE have also unfollowed each other’s accounts on Instagram. The artists have yet to share their own statements regarding the split.
