Blanco Brown is turning heads with his hit “The Git Up.”
The singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist released the viral hit “The Git Up” just a few weeks ago and now, in its fifth week on the charts, the song is sitting atop Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart. Jumping from No.4 to No.1 this week, “The Git Up” now holds the record for the “quickest coronation since Sam Hunt’s ‘Body Like a Back Road,’” according to Billboard.
Additionally, “The Git Up” tops both the Country Streaming Songs and Country Digital Song Sales charts for the second consecutive week, with 21.6 million U.S. streams and 34,000 tracks sold, according to Nielsen Music.
Brown wrote and produced “The Git Up” himself.
“‘The Git Up’ is dedicated to my grandmother telling us every morning, ‘Get up. Go do something productive in the world.’ It’s about messages [in] my music; bigger than anything is chasing your purpose in life,” the singer recently shared.
Brown’s unique style of music blends his love for country music storytelling with his affinity for hip-hop. Growing up in the Atlanta projects during the school year and rural Georgia during the summers, Brown’s musical influences are across the board.
