In honor of National Tattoo Day, Brantley Gilbert announces his seventh studio album, TATTOOS, set for release September 13 via The Valory Music Co.
The title of this new project is inspired by the idea that each of his many tattoos tell a different story and capture a moment in time, in the same way that his songs. Since the release of his debut album 15 years ago, Gilbert has grown his collection of tattoos and songs, resulting in him learning a few life lessons along the way.
With every new chapter he faces, the singer/songwriter has discovered that its best to embrace your most authentic self rather that hiding the truth. So with this collection of 10 tracks all co-written by Gilbert, he’s reinforcing that mantra by speaking his mind and putting full honesty on display.
“All my albums, they capture a chapter of my life,” Gilbert shared. “If somebody wants to know who I am, what I’ve been through and where I stand, they can start at the beginning and listen through, and that’s why it was undeniable that Tattoos should be the title – because my tattoos do the same thing.”

He went on to explain that while there are many different reasons why people choose to get tattoos, the majority use the ink to commemorate wins, loses, struggles, etc. Every piece of artwork on his body marks another step on the journey that has gotten him to this point.
“I was one of those kids who had to learn the hard way. But if I would’ve listened to the advice of others, I don’t know I would have ended up where I am,” the Georgia native added.
“Me And My House” Out Today
While the project’s lead single, “Over When We’re Sober” with Ashley Cooke is currently climbing the charts at Country radio after being most added upon its debut, Gilbert gave fans something else to chew on as they await the full release. Today, July 17, he shared another preview with the song, “Me And My House” ft. Struggle Jennings and Demun Jones.
All three of the genre-bending artists poured their heart and soul into this powerful country rap ballad by writing and performing their own verses. Throughout the chorus, Gilbert finds himself declaring that his has built a faith-filled home with “God-fearing Women and Men” who hold strong in their beliefs. Each verse solidifies this idea by presenting pride for the flag and leading by the guidance of the man above.
“I believe that all of us are the kings and queens of our own castle, and I would never in a million years tell somebody how to run their home,” shares Gilbert. “It’s just about sharing how we run ours, what home is to us. I think it’s a song people won’t just relate to; I think it’s a song we need.”
