Team Blake’s Cam Spinks and Kailey Abel battled it out during night two of The Voice battle rounds on Monday (March 30) with an impressive cover of Kane Brown and Lauren Alaina’s No. 1 single, “What Ifs.”
Spinks and Abel blended their voices together flawlessly while commanding viewers’ attention with their electrifying stage presence. After their performance, the judges commended Kailey for her energy and passion during the performance but gave it to Cam for his stunning vocal performance.
“Kailey, you’re on fire up there,” John Legend gushed. “I loved your energy it was captivating,”
“That was a really good song choice too, well done,” Nick Jonas complemented.
The pair’s coach, Blake Shelton praised them for working through some initial struggles saying, “They really struggled with that song at first and they put the work in and got it there.”
A country lover at heart, Kelly Clarkson couldn’t help but gush over their performance.
“Kailey, I love your passion, I love everywhere you chose to go vocally was interesting and cool and Cam, you had me at the belt buckle, the boots and the hat. I like a Cowboy,” she said.
When it was time for Shelton to choose between the two contestants, he once again complemented their duet before making his decision.
“The song was completely not what you do, both of you stepped up to the plate and it was a great performance,” he explained. “You put the work in and I’m happy for you about that.”
He then declared the champion: “The winner of this battle is Cam,” Shelton announced.
Even though Shelton “bet the farm” on Abel winning The Voice competition, it seems Cam Spinks had what it takes to move on to the Knockout rounds of The Voice.
Team Blake currently consists of Joei Fulco, Todd Michael Hall (save), Levi Watkins, Toneisha Harris and Cam Spinks with Todd Tilghman and Jon Mullins still left to battle in the third part of Battle Rounds.
The Voice continues next Monday (April 6) on NBC at 8 p.m. ET.
