Carly Pearce and Michael Ray have called it quits after less than one year of marriage.

The couple announced the news exclusively with PEOPLE, revealing that Pearce filed for divorce on Friday (June 19).

Pearce and Ray began dating in 2018 after crossing paths during a radio show. According to Pearce, she slid into Ray’s DMs and chatted back and forth before officially setting up their first date. They made their red carpet debut at the CMA Awards in 2018 and after dating for several months, Carly and Michael got engaged in December of 2018. The romantic engagement took place in Tulum, Mexico during a vacation with Pearce’s parents.

After a year-long engagement, Pearce and Ray tied the knot on October 6, 2019 in a “whimsical” ceremony at Drakewood Farm, about 15 miles north of Nashville. They exchanged vows in front of about 100 guests. Several weeks later, the couple enjoyed a honeymoon at Sandals South Coast in Jamaica.
