Scotty McCreery earned his third consecutive chart-topping single this week as his latest hit, “In Between,” reached the top spot on both the Billboard and Mediabase/Country Aircheck charts.
McCreery also made Billboard chart history with “In Between” as it became the second-largest leap to No. 1 on the chart since 1991.
“In Between” is the third single from McCreery’s 2018 album, Seasons Change. Also included on that project are the country hitmaker’s previous chart-topping hits, “Five More Minutes” and “This Is It.”
“When we released Seasons Change two years ago, I was hoping I might get my first No. 1 song,” the North Carolina native told Billboard. “Now I’ve been blessed to earn three No. 1s, which means more than I can say. I love that ‘In Between’ has connected with people like it has, especially during this time of social distancing. I don’t believe any of us are just one thing or the other; I think we’re all somewhere in between.”
McCreery, along with his wife, Gabi, and some of their friends, celebrated the chart-topping milestone with a small get-together over the weekend. Scotty’s wife and friends donned custom shirts with McCreery’s face on them as they popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate.
“This one is extra sweet! ‘In Between’ has been one of my favorite songs since we wrote it in 2015. It was a grind with this song, and that’s what makes it so awesome for it to be on top of the country charts this week,” the former American Idol winner wrote on Instagram.
He went on to thank country radio and his team for taking the song to No.1.
He also teased new music, telling fans that he “can’t wait” to send new music their way.
